Only half true. I hadn’t broken any laws and as a civilian, I was drafted and forced to either fight in Vietnam or go to jail for 5 years. And I was put in harms way. Your right about it being insane, however.

I do too, but only because these people would make terrible soldiers and would end up getting other good ones killed.
.
actually, I was at least half kidding, but not entirely. They might change their attitudes about the propriety of holding up obscene signs at a fallen soldier’s funeral, if they found themselves pinned down in a mortar barrage, got to feel the effect of an IED blast, witnessed friends die or lose a limbs and neurological function, or get burned badly… And, then go out again the next day,and do it all over again. Sorry to be so graphic, but there is nothing like seeing someone get blown to bits, and a street strewn with body parts, to make you at least mildly dismissive of their tactics. The family of that man knew that he had died a painful death as a young man in e service of his country. I also don’t believe that military people are dying because there are active homosexuals in the world. I don’t think that God does that sort of thing.

They could have their own special unit for high risk jobs.

I don’t have much compassion for them, though I know that I should.

wbc- a family of poor little boo boo heads, or maybe a family of nonbedsheet wearing kkkers :banghead:

Amen! When they were scheduled to come and protest at the school I taught at in Sacramento, we had plans to stand arm in arm so the kids couldn’t see their hate, God, however, put a stop to it - the weather became horrible in Northern California and they decided not to come:D

You’ll hate me for this, but I think their version of God makes the most sense to me. I don’t believe the world, or the events of the Bible, really point towards a loving, caring God, but I could see him being a vicious, hateful monster.

Not that I like them.

Naw, we don’t hate ya. What is sad is that young soldier gave his life for our freedom to chose whether we wish to believe or not. For that, he and his family deserve respect on the day of his funeral. Besides a soldier, I only know of one other man who was willing to do that.

Well, Marines, Sailors, Airmen and Aviators, Coasties are too…

Yup, sorry. I use “soldier” as anyone that puts himself between us and harms way. Two sons were Coasties and one Navy. When they finished their duty, one became a Cop and another a Fireman, so I didn’t leave those out intentionally :takeoff:

Well, yes, I certainly don’t believe it’s acceptable to celebrate the death of everyone, especially if you’re mocking them because you believe they’ve received some kind of eternal torture.

I never heard of them before. I went to their website. It has a list of numbers of things. Here is one:

16,000,000,000 - people that God killed in the flood.

I’m not good at math, but, isn’t this 16 billion? There are about half that many people in earth right now. How could there have been twice that many at the time of Noah and, where did the number come from?

How weird is it that all his followers don’t ask these simple questions?

Well, there’s this guy called Brick Stone (that’s not his real name, obviously) and he’s made some jokey videos were he asks them questions. Normally they’re to do with homosexuality or something, because he’s a sodomite-loving liberal, but I know he brought this up and the guy claimed that people lived longer back then. However, that’s not actually true as I think I’m right in saying that most Bronze Age/Iron Age humans would have only lived to about thirty. But, I’m not sure what the Bible says. I must read the whole thing.

Start with the Gospel of Saint John.
Oh, no, no, no, no. Not this. When Christians do stuff like this, I get worried. It seems to be that you want me to avoid reading lots of the Bible. For some reason.

I kid, though. I know the significance of the gospels, but I would like to read the whole thing. Especially Genesis. 😃

… but I think their version of God makes the most sense to me. I don’t believe the world, or the events of the Bible, really point towards a loving, caring God, but** I could see** him being a vicious, hateful monster.
So there is a version of God that makes sense to you…and as long as you “could see” Him, that’s a big start for a Regular Atheist :clapping:

Woaw, we seem to be getting off epan’s topic…sorry! :ouch:

I don’t care what you read, I just am 98% sure you are ignorant of what the Bible comprises and what the writings in it represent. Which is also true of 98% of Christians. I also have no interest in converting you and don’t care if you die in your atheism. I know trolling when I see it. I also don’t think you have the insight or ability to penetrate Saint John’s Gospel. But if someone wants to read the whole of the Canon of Scripture, they might as well start with something that represents the whole, begins at the beginning and ends at the end. OTOH, I’m not that invested either way.

What parts do you think I don’t want you to read? God sending a bear to eat children? Rules about slaves and how much you should sell your daughter for? You think I don’t know atheist websites have whole lists of these tidbits from Scripture that they drag out like dirty underwear they fished from a neighbor’s laundry to wave about in forum threads and prove the neighbors are filthy pigs? Srsly? Only atheists have IQs higher than their ages?

After twenty years of listening to the ranting and raving and smug ignorance of atheists, mostly, y’all are simply … tedious.

himself or herself… just teasing you now. i don’t even know how to write a sentence anymore which is “inclusive.” no worries on the use of “soldier”. i was just feeling full of my Marine self, because the only people who showed up to face down Phelps were also other Marines. Though I am now Navy, and a former Marine… I still see myself as a Marine. I guess that old adage is true. The funeral was for a soldier. Now… this is san diego. Sailors outnumber Marines 4 to 1, and Marines outnumber Army more than 4 to 1, and Army outnumbers Coast Guard at least 4 to 1, which is about the same as Air Force here. It is a Marine and Navy town.

This rant is inappropriate. Regular Atheist isn’t a troll. He/She post on the forum all the time and generally succeeds in expressing himself/herself in a way that is not disrespectful.

And how are we to judge those who are the wolves among us? By their fruits. Do these people demostrate the fruits of the Holy Spirit or the fruits of Satan? This is the question I use to determine who is the wolf and who is the sheep.
You misunderstood. I get that they’re “wolves”. I just don’t see the “sheep’s clothing”. They seem to be intentionally antagonizing people in order to make them hate them and their cause. The use deliberately incomplete, cryptic, and hatefull messages and it seems like they don’t even care if people come to God or not, as long as they are made to feel bad. Most the people that drive by them flip them off or throw things in their direction. Generally a “wolf in sheep’s clothing” is a person who is trying to decieve others into thinking they are harmless.
