struggle with lust and play out lust filled scenes in a video game, is it an occasion of sin?
In that case, yes it could be.

If someone is prone to sins of wrath and killing pixel people in GTA causes them to get angry or contemplate actually killing people, that’s problematic too.

I played Red Dead Redemption for many years & I don’t apologize for playing poker.

Nothing wrong with poker. For some reason, in that game Lady Luck and I make a great team.

Yes I have same dilemma I play a game called assasins creed ,I dont kill people in the game because I have a deepseeded urge to kill everyone I see , its just how you play the game, I do occasionally kill random people and some other games I play are purely meant to kill people like fortnite you have to kill the opposing team, would these be considered mortal sins secondly I owned GTA and went on to the strip club not to be lustful , but I had just got the game would this also be considered sinful, I know many catholic teenager who do this in the game as well

Kinda different, if you are reading a book with that part in it, the author intended for people to read that as it was a main event in the story.

In the game, you have the option to go to these clubs and expose yourself to these things.

I think the developers also wanted to indirectly shame you for going there because, on Xbox at least, when a person goes into the club, it is displayed on your account for all of your friends to see.

It’s like : {username}
GTA V - In strip club

Guys, video games aren’t real. I’m kinda shocked that needs to be said, but if you kill “someone” in a game, that’s not murder.
Seriously.
Game. Not real. Repeat as necessary.

But still going to the strip club even if not lustful and killing random people in game just feels wrong/ mortal

killing random people in game just feels wrong/ mortal
It may be because I’m kinda a computer nerd and understand how video games work…

I have no issue with random 001010110 binary code producing pixels on a crystal display which I move around and play with.

You’re not “killing random people.” You’re moving pixels around a computer display.

Now, if that action causes you to start harboring violent or angry thoughts in your soul… That’s a problem. Maybe violent video games AREN’T for you.

But if you can play them with the distinction between real world and video game world in mind and not let it effect you, I say go have a blast - go sleep with as many pixelated prostitutes and murder as many pixelpeople as your little heart desires.

@BoomBoomMancini you concur?

You talk about pixels, What about when CGI and Computer graphics become so good as to look real. Real to the point that our minds cant differentiate whether we are seeing a computer graphic or a real person. We aren’t talking about space invaders and pac-man here 🙂

Real to the point that our minds cant differentiate whether we are seeing a computer graphic or a real person.
If you can’t differentiate between reality and simulated video game reality then you simply shouldn’t be playing video games, because in that case video games may very well have a negative impact on your soul.

I’ve already stated this.

A big waste of time, probably yes.
Mortally sinful, I don’t think so.

the video game Grand Theft Auto and I play
Playing Grand Theft Auto is no more sinful than reading a crime novel, watching the Godfather, listening to rap music, or viewing violent artworks.
I have been thinking there has to be something wrong with the Harry Potter books if not for anything else because of the polemic they created for dealing with magic and being aimed at young audiences. How would that apply to GTA I wonder?? Well, perhaps because it doesn’t propose to dabble in the preternatural in anyway being “good old” human vices and crime. Games like “Skyrim” takes things to a whole other level, those contain an excess of religious symbols in their negative form …

But again: video game. Not real. As long as the person reading the book/playing the game is mature enough to recognize the distinction, it’s fine.

“The Last of Us” is probably the best none N64 video game ever made, and there is a good amount of violence in it. I loved playing it! I still get all emotional when I see giraffes ( high five if you get that last part).

Holla have I committed a mortal sin I have being the video game Grand Theft Auto and I play only for fun I don’t play the game to kill inoccent people or I do inappropriate things in it but you can steal cars or rob stores but I only steal cars on the game but don’t kill the people but I kill online players but I am worried I have committed a mortal sin
Do you know I get upset when I read your words ?

You are playing a video game for fun , doing no inappropriate things , and you are worried whether you have committed a mortal sin .

Ask yourself what sort of image of God you have , because that is what should be worrying you .

In real terms you are envisaging playing Grand Theft Auto , and for some reason you instantly die , and you go to Hell for eternity because you haven’t had time to say “sorry” or to go to Confession , so God has no place for you in Heaven .

I don’t know how old you are , but if you are young . and you go through life with this image of “God” , then your life is going to feel like hell .

The Catechism teaches , “We must humbly cleanse our hearts of certain false images drawn “from this world.” Humility makes us recognize that “no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him,” that is, “to little children.” The purification of our hearts has to do with paternal or maternal images, stemming from our personal and cultural history, and influencing our relationship with God. God our Father transcends the categories of the created world. To impose our own ideas in this area “upon him” would be to fabricate idols to adore or pull down.”

So , please , start purifying your heart now , and stop yourself and others from imposing false ideas of God upon God .

This Sunday is Pentecost , and it might be good for you to pray this small part of the Veni Creator Spiritus (Come Spirit , Creator) “Per te sciamus da Patrem noscamus atque Filium” (Through thee may we the Father know, through thee the eternal Son,)

COME SPIRIT , CREATOR . THROUGH THEE MAY WE THE FATHER KNOW , THROUGH THEE THE ETERNAL SON .

The Holy Spirit will lead you to know the Father and the Son . He will lead you into the truth . Ask Him to do it .

Super Smash Bro’s, Super Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda Ocarina of time, Pokémon Stadium … the best part of my childhood 😭!

I hope you get to play it at some point! That game is a master piece! And if you don’t shed a tear a couple times you have no heart 😂!
