I am a new Catholic and I recently heard that every person has a guardian angel that protects us. So my question is…is this true? If it is, how do I get in touch with mine?
:angel1: This is one of those little things about being Catholic that I love. I didn’t know I had a guardian angel until I read the Catechism the other day and I guess we all have one!
When I was a toddler I had escaped from my family and wandered outside the house. We had deep, steep-sloped irrigation ditches to water our yards and fields and they were completely full that afternoon. When my mom realized I wasn’t with my dad or siblings, she went searching and found me lying next to the ditch completely soaked in water. She told me that my angel had helped me out.

yes it is true, Jesus reminds us in the gospel that each of us has a guardian angels.
you don’t need to get in touch with your angel. the angel is a messenger from God, so if any contact is necessary, the angel will initiate it. You can certainly pray to your angel, and the prayer said by Catholic children is relevant all through life.
Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God’s love commits me here, ever this day be at my side, to light, to guard, to rule and guide. Amen.
you also do not need to “name” your angel. God has already given them names. If it is necessary for you to know that name it will be given to you.
