Guardian Demon?

Hey Everyone,

So here is what I know…I am not interested in discussing these points…just take them at face value and discuss them on another thread
  1. Angels and demons exist
    2)People have guardian angels that are supposed to guide the soul to Heaven.
My question then is this, do we each have a ‘guardian demon’ who is assigned to our soul for the purpose of its damnation?
 
Guardian angels are assigned by God to protect and guide that individual.

Interesting question, you mean like a yin and yang thing? There is a good so is there a bad too?
 
I do believe demons learn from us. They watch us to learn our weakness. Satan is not stupid. The worst thing we can do and I think most people too often do is give him to little credit. It’s like putting the frog in boiling water and it jumps out. put it in warm water and heat up to boiling slowly and it will sit there till it dies. That is how Satan gets us. The world didnt turn out as screwed up as it did overnight. If it did we would have changed it immediately. Instead Satan has worked slowly and almost silently to bring us where we are. Demons are always lurking to bring us down with them. If they werent always there ready to attack then God would not have given us guardian angels. I dont know if the devil has assigned demons to certain people or if its a free for all but I think a free for all would be chaotic and less always gets accomplished when there is chaos, so i think he would want order and structure to get the best result. I strongly encourage anyone interested in demonic activity in the world to read “The Screwtape Letters” by C.S. Lewis. It is a shocking eye opener.

There is no Catholic teaching that this is true, but, sometimes, I think they gang up on us!
 
The idea of a personal tempter is a plot device in C. S. Lewis’s classic SCREWTAPE LETTERS.

It’s also an idea bandied about by some Eastern monastic writers.

While it’s possible, it’s at best a theologoumenon. I wouldn’t dwell on it.
 
…the gates of hell will not prevail, no one said that the gates of hell would not try… our job is to make sure we run the race and fight the good fight… like most we will fall, and stumble and in some cases take others with us. Just got to remember to pick ourselves up, ask God’s forgiveness, and start running and fighting some more… 👍
 
An interesting point to consider is that the old rite of Baptism consists of an exorcism prior to the actual baptism. I just heard something about this not too long ago but can’t remember much about it except that it had something similar to do with your topic.
 
There are exorcism in the New Rite as well.

Furthermore, there are three exorcisms over the catechumen, as well as a 4th prayer, in the Byzantine tradition.

First time I’ve heard of the New Rite.

Is that a Rite in the Latin Catholic Church?
 
That’s an interesting idea. I don’t think there is anything in the Church teachings about this. But Satan is strong, smart, and clever and probably knows a thing or two about coordinating a war over human souls. And from the look of the moral decay in the world, he has been dong a pretty good job. So yes, demons exist and I bet Satan sends the appropriate one who will have the greatest chance of taking you down. I don’t think we give him enough credit by thinking that only God and His choir of angels are well organized while Satan is not. Evil does not imply stupid and Satan is as clever as he is evil.

The good news is that I truly believe that in a straight fight, I put my money on my guardian angels any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
 
I do believe that Satin is very smart and clever and because of that would not assign a Guardian Demon. First of all my Guardian Angel would completely demolish anything The Devil threw at me. Even if the Devil himself came all my Guardian angel would have to do would be call on St Michael and we could all laugh at the devil running his little but back as fast as he could to the slime he came from. I Love My Name sake, Saint Michael the Archangel !
 
I was taught that as God gives us each a Guardian Angel, so the Devil assigns a tempter demon. to each of us
