Guess what? I've been asked to join a prayer meeting at work

In the spirit of Christmas, the gentleman that runs the prayer groups, invited me today into a prayer meeting. He will be showing a beautiful video, and would very much like me to be there, because he knows that being a Christian is ‘important to me,’ he said. And I thought I was being excluded. (remember that thread?)

It will be interesting, because there will be a blend of Protestants and Catholics in the meeting.

Forgive me Lord for judging situations too quickly.

WOW! All I can say is wow. It is a video put on by a Protestant pastor, who really spends the entire video talking about the universe…the galaxies…how fast light travels…and all of this came out of God’s mouth. There is a slide showing this tiny speck caught in a stream of sunlight, and the astronomers caught in on film one day…that is how small we are. You can barely see us! So, it says to me that if we are this small, yet God has designed the entire universe, who am I to be afraid of anything in my life? He designed our life too…and my life is sooooo small, but soooooo meaningful to our Lord.

The last slide…the presenter said…‘Ok, I’m going to take you really far out now.’ And you think he is going to show you another slide of another galaxy. Instead, a slide showing Christ, bloody, hanging from a cross, is shown.

There was not a dry eye in that room, and I commend my company for allowing us to get together to see this on site!!!

Exactly, right? I thought it was very good…he started off the prayer group meeting, with stating that we don’t talk about denomimations, more about Christ, in a general sense.

Something that I thought was interesting though was in the video…the presenter says…‘He has washed away our shame and guilt by His death on the cross.’ I thought about that, and didn’t fully agree with that sentiment. So, what when we sin, we should just think to ourselves…‘ah, Jesus took care of that, why worry.’ No, we shouldn’t worry–we should confess and repent…and try to live more like Christ. It’s in the striving…but I think with non Catholic faiths, there is this idea that Jesus died for our sins, and that doesn’t ‘require’ any movement on our part. That was the only thing in the video I found to be a bit questionable. Nice seeing you water…have a nice Christmas!

That is great! Too bad more employers aren’t this open, I think if they were they would get better productivity and have less office “squabbles”. You certainly are blessed.

To further sharing the same belief without talking about denominations, we can share with this group that we too accept that Jesus is our Savior. We emphasize on His Dying on the Cross as much as His risen from the Death. We remember His Passion and His victory through the prayers of 14 Station of the Cross and daily mass (daily Communion) and Easter season, etc …

I hope you have a great discussion but pray that you will be always calm. It is nearly impossible to not bring up any differences when you have a group people with different faiths.

My girlfriend’s boss is a non-Catholic and he is so nice and very encouraging and supportive. He follows Catholic news that I couldn’t catch up with him. He always encourages my g/f to have faith in God.

Yes–it’s not widely publicized, as there are people of various faiths in the office…but…it is nice to see an effort being made!
