I was actually in 4rd grade when I left, so I can’t remember. I do remember the old steel mills, pirates games, old economy, my old catholic school(MGA). I was visiting every year, but we had to cut that off to visit my grandparents in Philly. I probably never would have had anyways, hated the art museam. I wish everyone in the south would learn how to say Carnegie, though…
😃 Car-nay-gee hhahaha That always cracked me up. My husband has recently lost the accent…"dahn-tahn’ lol

If you ever get a chance to make it back there, check out Squirrel Hill and Homestead…they built this massive outdoor ritzy mall around a bunch of smokestacks…only in Pittsburgh!😃 It’s really pretty neat.

I started to lose my accent and started to say stuff like “yall.” So, I started to say yinz in an attempt to bring back my accent. I still say “pop” sometimes when I go to restaurants and stuff and the server will just stare at me like I’m crazy.

Okay Serious question here and a lot is at stake:

Is Sidney Crosby going to be as good as Wayne Gretzky?
Since the game is on…and I’m on here…I asked him your question, and here are his EXACT words…

“Ah, heck yeah! Better even!”

Oh my gosh–YINZ!!! HAHAHAHAAH That is too funny…Yinz guys. My husband never said that one, thankfully…but, he would say…‘crick’ instead of creek…‘hass’ instead of ‘house.’ LOL:D

Ok, I have hijacked my poor dh’s thread enough.😊

(Honey, you know I’m just teasing you.😉 )

Well I think that in 2 years time that will be seen as he will be representing Team Canada at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver CANADA. I expect a Gold medal if he is as good as people say he is:thumbsup:

According to my husband, he is pretty amazing…🤷

See, I never said it either, being my dad was orginally from Philly and my mom from Atlanta. So I had a hard time incorporating it into my normal speech. After a while I just gave up.

Hi PenguinFan… I am one of your wifes buddies but I think we will be buddies too… I am a Steelers fan and the first girl to play ice hockey at the college I went to… grew up in PA but now live in IL… My husband is here too… sometimes that is.

Oh… and you will probably appreciate this one… when I was a teenager I would only date guys with seasons tickets to the Flyers.

👋 PenguinsFan!

I am another one of your DW’s ‘imaginary’ friends! So is my DH, his screen name is Mirror Mirror.

Don’t know much about the Penguins, except that they are at the St. Louis Zoo in the Penguins and Puffins exhibit:D LOL!

My kids did learn how to ice skate this past weekend though! It was their first time ever and they did great!! 👍

Hi PenguinsFan 👋

Glad you could make it. 😃 You have a great wife, even if she hijacked your first thread :hmmm:

Not much of a sports fan, I’m afraid, but welcome to the Forums.

Go LEAFS Go! (Sorry, my own husband would never let me get away if I didn’t say that!)

Seriously, welcome! I am your wife’s prayer partner, so I am one of the many people that has been praying for you recently.

We’re a hockey-loving family, too, but can’t really get away from it since my DH is Canadian, eh? I went to school in Steubenville, OH and spent many a weekend in Pittsburgh, even went to some Pens games (when they were playing the Leafs, of course!) DH and I spent our honeymoon night at the Mariott Metro Center across from Mellon Arena and we got a great view of the arena. I joked with him that only HE could manage to still be that close to a hockey game on his wedding night!

Welcome to the forum! Make yourself at home. 🙂

If u guessed whatevergirl’s husband, u get a door prize on your way out. :=)

My wife wanted me to join, so here I am. I am a cradle Catholic. Born to two MAJOR devout Catholics, my dad was in WWII. God rest his soul. I am one of nine kids, and my youngest brother and me are the only ones left who follow the faith. I have 3 sisters, one follows zen, and the other two are atheists. I have an older brother who is Lutheran, and my other brothers say they are Catholic, never go to church. We all went to Catholic school. How they all got away from the faith, I don’t know. But, my wife praises this message board, and says that we need to be following all of the Church’s teachings. (so if we end up with 6 more kids, I am coming looking for you) lol just joking.

Nice to meet ya. Talk to u another time. Pens are on–gotta go.

Any Steelers/Pens/Pitt fans here??
I’ll give a thumbs up to the user name. Pens are on a war path right now!!! Gotta love it. I’m a big Steelers, Pens, and Pirates fan… also a Pitt grad. Welcome to the forums.

A Pitt grad!!! Obviously, my wife was not asking the right questions on here. lol She never mentioned all of you Steelers/Pirates/Pens fans–yes! We tried to make it to a Pitt game, never happened. The games were hard to get tickets. The Pens are on fire! Now that the Steelers are done (can’t believe they blew that game!), I have something to look forward to. My wife says I need “help.” :=)

I’m off today. Not sure if my wife mentioned this or not, but I got a new job at Disney, I start in about a week. We are both really happy, my career has had some pitfalls since moving here, but being in sales/business dev. at Disney, we are both really happy about it. I was feeling discouraged for a while, but I worked for Disney before, long time ago, and now to be back there, it feels like the best fit for me. My wife kept telling me to pray, we prayed together about it, she is a prayer warrior, I tell ya! But, God works thru our prayers, I know that, and see it in our lives.

We have talked about some of u, but I can’t remember names well, sorry! Make it a good one and thanks for all the replies here!
Catch up later.

Yeah, I’m enjoying watching the young team skate around. It’s been medicinal after the Black and Gold’s fiasco on Saturday (I didn’t cry this year, but I was close). Pitt football seems to be on the up after the win over WVU (I danced around my house like a 12 year old cheerleader). Pitt Basketball is consistantly competetive, except they’re pretty banged up right now. If I could only get them Bucos to win some baseball games, life would be about as bliss as it gets.

Think it would take a miracle to get the Pirates moving in the right direction. My wife refuses to watch them at all, since the days of Bonilla/Bonds, remember those days? I lost interest myself. Pittsburgh fans are funny tho, they will pack the stadium, even if they stink! lol We’re loyal to our teams.

I concur with u, it is exciting to watch these young kids with such talent, and they can only get better.

**Welcome! I love your wife’s posts and feel like I know you two (scary eh?..lol).
