Guidance for the Holy Eucharist and Confession

Hello everyone, I attend a local four-year college and still live at home with my parents. The dilemma I am having is that both my parents call themselves Catholic and attend Mass every Sunday and Holy Day of Obligation with me, however, they do not believe in the sacrament of Confession, yet they still receive Holy Communion every Mass they attend. I’ve told them that this is deeply wrong, but they just brush my comments aside. I’ve prayed for them and nothing has changed other than my dad is scared of COVID-19, so he doesn’t go up for the Eucharist. I feel like by still attending Mass with my parents, I am complicit with their actions, but I don’t want to shame my parents all the time because I’m afraid they’ll quit going to Mass. Does anyone have any further resources or guidance for me?

That’s not a dilemma for you.

That’s between them, their pastor, and God. They know what the Church teaches. They are adults. They are responsible for their own decisions.

NO. This is NOT church teaching. This isn’t even remotely what the Church teaches, or has ever taught, about our participation in another person’s sin.

This is scrupulous thinking. If it continues, speak to your pastor.

Yes. Stop thinking this is somehow your sin. It isn’t. Leave it alone. Speak to your pastor if you continue to have anxiety over this.

No, you’re not. You don’t control their actions.

Here’s a better idea – don’t shame them because they’re your parents, to whom you owe love and respect. And of whom you are not the boss.
You’ve said your piece – sounds like more than once. All you can do is pray for them, and set a good example.
