Dear friends in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Good wishes

In a good way, I would like to meditate on the spirit, both the Holy Spirit and the other spirits. My intention is not certainly a bad one. I am praying to God through our Lord for this grace.

I have so many dear friends who are (“selling” themselves) into this new age spirituality (ignoring - any possibility of accepting or having relationship with - our Lord Jesus Christ). They accept anything but the Bible based. These folks span across more than religion, more than one christian denominations, etc. I regularly meet with them and converse with them. I am inspired to pray for them regularly. Although rare, these folks engage (or are willing to engage) in an open and honest spiritual conversations. These are the moments I want to hug them deep with the love of God and ask them to accept and/or stay content with our Lord. Also, this is where I would like to help them through conversing as well, through my side. I also believe that the Holy Spirit will lead me in those moments of discussions, since it is related directly to the spirit. Since these friends are so close, and willing to open up often times, I feel like I must be ready in spirit and knowledge, so I can engage in a good conversation instead of totally avoiding them.

Along this line, in a good way. I will write down some questions that could help. I am not expecting an answer right here. It is just to see where my intentions are.
  • What is the spirit that is of our own?
  • What are evil spirits? What are demons? Are they same?
  • What is the spirit of truth, or spirit of some nature, etc?
  • Is the Holy spirit a collection of spirits or only one entity?
  • How to discern the spirits?
  • Etc.
Therefore, I am inspired to ask if you know any Bible based articles, or books or any person, that would go on related to answering these questions and more.

Thank you very much.

How to discern the spirits?
At least in regards to this question, I’ve heard Fr. Timothy Gallagher OMV has excellent books for Ignatian Spirituality and the discermment of spirits. Here’s one such book:

It may touch on answering some of your other questions as well. Also:
Is the Holy spirit a collection of spirits or only one entity?
We as Catholics believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, who is God. He is not a separate being from God, but is not the Son (Jesus) nor the Father. I hope this helps!

Acts chapter two - verse three -
“ And there appeared unto them
cloven tongues - as of fire
and it sat upon each of them “

Here’s a dynamite scene -
The disciples of Jesus were hiding out in a room
sad that Jesus was no longer with them -
regular men -
All of a sudden transformed.
Made bold.

Enlightened.

Thank you very much. I will look into Fr. Timothy’s works. Loving wishes.

If you want to know anything about the Holy Spirit, I would recommend the writings of the late Archbishop Luis Martinez.

His writings are amazing and they will cover anything you want to know about the Holy Spirit and haven’t even thought to ask.
