I am 9 months pregnant and battling with severe depression. My depression makes me lash out and at points even become violent and say things I don’t mean. I always feel awful after and ask for forgiveness. I’m terrified of losing my baby due to this behavior and I just want assurance god will forgive me and keep my baby healthy and well 😦

God is All Merciful and won’t punish you by taking away your baby. Only we humans could do that (or natural causes). Have you seen a psychiatrist about this depression? Are there any medications you can take while breast-feeding your baby (since having your baby will be so soon)? That would be my first thought. I also hope that you have this problem properly diagnosed. Relax and trust in Him.

27 Behold the days come, saith the Lord: and I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Juda with the seed of men, and with the seed of beasts. 28 And as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to throw down, and to scatter, and destroy, and afflict: so will I watch over them, to build up, and to plant them, saith the Lord.

29 In those days they shall say no more: The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the teeth of the children are set on edge.

30 But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that shall eat the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.

Jeremiah hated this saying that was evidently popular in his day. To translate it idiomatically, we could say “the children shall pay for the extravagance of their father,”

We know this isn’t right. So did Jeremiah. So does God.

Be at ease-- God does not seek vengeance against you by punishing your own child! How much does God love your unborn? Infinitely. It was God who loved your unborn into existence, who continually loves both you and your child into existence, at this moment.

May God bless you and I hope you are able to visit confession to soothe your nerves and make use of the sacrament he established for you!

I was on medication prior, though it’s not suggested for preganancy or nursing.

I would make sure that once the baby is delivered that you seek help and work with your Dr. about your hormones and having them balanced. You have a sad view of God which is that God is out to strike you down because of your struggles with depression. I hope that you will see God as a loving father not some mean bully ready to bounce on you and your baby.

It’s probably hormones. Are you in a warm climate? Has it been hot where you are? I had my daughter in July and I was a real grouch which isn’t like me at all…

Saying some prayers for you and your baby. May God grant you faith, strength, peace, hope and love…

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

It has been getting warmer , but not too hot. I have always lashed out and acted crazy it’s something that tends to come and go and therapy unfortunately has never been too much help. I gave my own father a black eye. This is the breaking point it has to stop here, I just feel so much guilt and so sorry for my little baby that I put him in harm every time I get in these crazy emotions.

If you were on medication that was working, prior to the pregnancy, have your doctors discussed restarting it after birth? (Even if you end up having to give your baby formula?) Alternately, looking for another medication that would be compatible with breastfeeding?

Did they just leave you totally unmedicated throughout pregnancy??

Yes they just cut medication and for a while, it was actually working but sometimes I still have moments.

The way you are feeling sounds perfectly natural to me, thou you should still make and effort to avoid this behavior & repent when you give in, the same way we would for any sin or misdeed. What truly matters is the deeper recess of your heart, do you really love the lord, then feed his sheep and tend to his flock. Christ came to absolve us of sin & put and end to bitterness and resentment with the lord (We don’t have to worry about being punished like Egypt was in the dark days for example.) Our punishment is self-inflicted and is used for healing in spirit.

What matters is if you love this child & are ready to accept the responsibilities coming your way. Take one day at a time and try to focus on the good rather then the bad in less you find yourself in need of healing, then you should of course reflect. Other then that you are well on your way to a healthy motherhood.

I would make sure I wasn’t just seeing a regular MD, but a psychiatrist. I would make sure of a proper diagnosis then trust in Him for his Mercy
