Feeling like an aweful brat over an incident at the sitter yesterday . . .I was in a rush after work yesterday: I get off @ 4:30, get the kids, had to gas up b/c I was on ‘e’, and get home for a guest we were having @ 5!!!
When I pull up to the sitter, an older woman in a body cast is struggling to get up the steps (I’m exaggerating, but her back brace was quite a contraption). In my haste I’m thinking, great, just what I need. So I follow her in, staying off her heals and she’s kind of crowding the entry way, so I couldn’t just grab the kids and run.
Once I have the baby in his carseat, I hustle my older one telling him ‘we’re in a rush, let’s go,’ kind of making my statement. Well, my sitter (who doesn’t get around so well herself) is trying to help this lady get her screaming granddaughter to the end of the porch and down the stairs. I myself have the carseat in the crook of my elbow and my toddler’s hand on the other arm. Now I’m on everyone’s heals. I should have made my escape thru the side door.
I get the kids in the carseat w/ my sitter in the background telling this lady ‘you don’t need to be lifting her into the car.’ After I get the kids situated I walk over to her car to help her, but she’s got everything in order.
Ugh! I feel aweful!!! I should have just helped her along w/ her granddaughter and then went back in for my own kids.
Just needed to vent. Thanks for listening.
