All guns are designed to shoot things. What gets shot is determined not by the design of the gun but by the action of the shooter. Knives are designed to stick and cut things. What gets stuck or cut is also determined by the action of the person wielding the knife.

Those might be what I had. Got me ready to shoot my dad’s Colt .38, with similar grips but much louder. 😉
 
Actually, throwing knives can kill from a distance. Throwing axes too. Not to mention arrows.
 
I’m surprised by the number of BB and pellet guns for sale now that look like the real deal, from a distance. At least no one could mistake a Super Soaker for a real firearm.
 
There was a series: .32, .38 .45. Available with ivory or black grips. They loaded through a gate, cylinder revolved (a mechanical weakness; that often failed) and utilized two part shells and stick-on caps, so you were actually limited to 6 rounds, before reloading. And there was a related derringer. Images are readily google-able.

I had three derringers, still have one. Both .38s are gone. Kid across the street had the .45 and .32.
