Okay, how to control this? I fear I am disturbing the other adorers at our perpetual adoration chapel when my stomach goes crazy in the early morning hours. I am not talking about a little gurgle here and there, I mean full fledged stomach churning growling which will go on for ten or twenty minutes. I have tried drinking lots of water before hand, eating something, going totally without, etc., nothing helps. Any ideas?

Nope, no ideas.* I would talk to your doctor and meanwhile offer up your suffering (embarassment) for the poor souls.* Good Luck!

No embarassment, only concern that it is disturbing to others. Doctor says nothing abnormal.

Almost all of us have stomachs that rumble now and then. I think you’re more worried about it than other people are, dear soul.

lean over and quietly whisper to them, “Blest are they who hunger…”😃
or try some peptolbismol

I agree with this advice. It’s probably bothering you more than anyone else.

The other good advice is to offer it up for the Holy Souls. God bless you.

Rather than water try drinking a bit of milk - that seems to calm my stomach down better than water.

Careful with that; milk sends my stomach-monkeys into hyperdrive.

There is a medical term for this, BTW–borborygmus. That word makes me grin every time I think of it.

The correct medical term is the plural (since you always get multiple gurgles) which is boborygmi - somehow even funnier to me than the singular 😃

Have you tried some mylanta, or tums or something like one of these products?? Might help and won’t hurt.

I was curious as to when exactly you get the gurgles. For me, “odd things”, if I should even call these things that, happen when I seem to be in a certain train of thought or position in terms of mind and body. Try and pin point the exact moment these gurgles seem to happen.
Every little movement we make has a cause and every little thought we process has a source. Yet we are to ‘put on the mind of Christ’ and be ‘temples of the Holy Spirit’ and even further, be in perfect conformity to the will of the Father. If we suffer when we have done evil then we deserved it, but if we suffer for doing good then we have God’s approval. I hope you find out what is causing those gurgles. God Bless.

Thanks for all the helpful advise. I know this is probably more silly than its worth, but honestly it was bothering me.
I will try the peptobismo / kaopectate and see if that helps.

All of my sympathies for your problem! I felt compelled to say something, so I turned to the internet. My search was: “loud gurgling stomach.” (My parents occasionally check my internet activities, wait until they get a load of that!). Anyway I found this: steadyhealth.com/problem_with_loud_stomach_gurgling_t65571.html , and when I saw warm 7-up it struck me that I have had stomach problems before, and soda not only takes gross tastes out of your mouth but it soothes the stomach as well. Ginger ale worked wonders on me, I hope it helps you too! 👍

How interesting!! That’s the EXACT sound my stomach makes!! 😃 😃 😃

I’m just glad to know that my stomach isn’t the only one that carries on like this! One day it sounded like fireworks were blasting off inside my tummy and I actually thought about leaving but I just turned around smiled, shrugged my shoulders, mouthed an apology and kept on praying.

Besides, the very next week I sat beside a man that snored the whole time so now I don’t feel so bad.
