I am a CA radio club member and enjoy the show very much. I also very much appreciate the CA Forums to ask questions such as these.

Via i-Tunes, I have also been searching for interesting podcasts for Catholic men on various issues, especially the Scriptural concept of manhood and advice on preparation for marriage for men.

Unfortunately, while I can find endless Protestant podcasts (which I have found to be very good and helpful) on the duties of Christian men and Christian husbands, there is nothing Catholic or distinctly Catholic.

Can someone help me please? Do Catholics not do this?

Thank you and God bless all.

Hi KnightIHSV,

I often hear the radio program “Reasons for Faith” (aka “The Lord’s Gym”), a live call-in show with Jesse Romero & Terry Barber on our local Catholic radio station. Their show is geared toward men, and deals with all kinds of issues of interest to men, although I (a woman) also enjoy listening to them 🙂

Here is a link to their podcasts (they have them going all the way back to 2009):

You can also listen live on Immaculate Heart Radio if you live in the western US, or via streaming radio here: ihradio.com/wp-content/themes/simplefolio/listen.html

The live times for the show on IHR are Tuesdays from 11:00am-12:00 noon Pacific (2:00pm-3:00pm Eastern). They also broadcast an encore on Tuesday evenings from 9:00pm-10:00pm Pacific (12 midnight-1:00 am Eastern).

Check out Jesse Romero and the Lord’s Gym as well. Also E5 men has some good stuff on it.

Thank you very much to all posters. Very helpful and I will look into. I do appreciate it.

One thing I have found is that in “Christian” bookstores (ie Protestant), I can find numeorus books for Christian men and geared towards someone in my position. When I am in Catholic bookstores, I can find numerous books on dead saints and popes, all of which are interesting, but whose lives could not be more different from my own. I have found some of the Protestant podcasts I have heard quite interesting and I enjoy how they relate the success and failures of Old Testament men (dead saints as well) to the challenges of being a guy right now in 2012.

I appreciate the Catholic resources.

Well my Catholic bookstore carries numerous books on saints and popes as well as all the contemporary books about men, boys and Catholic teaching. We have had Crossing the Goal series, we have books on sexuality and Catholic teaching. If you are looking in a Catholic bookstore and they do not have what you are looking for, ask. They can order anything you want.

There was a book I read called the Catholic warrior (I think) and it was men geared but it got a little weird.
