Why do we pray "to you do we cry poor banished children of eve?

I am looking more at the first part rather than the eve part. I pray to Mary and I understand intercession but how to explain this?
 
it’s a reference to mankind being put out of paradise due to the fall of Adam & Eve.
 
The word “cry” has a variety of meanings. Here, it means to appeal or to beg for help: “To you do we cry [out for help]”.

We are “poor banished children of Eve” because: “Eve shut all her children out of paradise; the Virgin Mary opened wide its gates.” (LOTH, Common of the Blessed Virgin Mary)
