Hail Mary during Mass

I joined my current parish in 2002. Until then, I had never gone to a parish that recited the Hail Mary after the Prayer of the Faithful. Personally, I love that we do this. We respond to all individual intentions with “Lord, hear our prayer”. After the priest declares “we ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.” he continues with " …and through the intercession of Mary…". Then we all recite the Hail Mary.

I only attend 1 or 2 other parishes a year while on vacation or business trip, and I don’t recall either of them reciting the Hail Mary. Is there anything improper about this?
 
Also, I already checked the GIRM, and there doesn’t seem to be anything strict about the method of response to intentions.
 
Yeah I noticed that they consistently did that wherever I went to Mass in London last summer. I wondered if it was a British thing or what. I have never heard that done in the USA.
 
This is done occasionally here, usually at a Mass in honour of Mary, such as the Immaculate Conception.
 
We usually have a specific intention for pro-life issues. After that one we recite the Hail Mary, but at the end the priest says the usual. We do this at every Sunday Mass.
 
Our priests have done this a couple of times in our parish. 👍

I disagree. The GIRM is strict enough to disallow the Hail Mary.

From the 2002 General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM) approved for the USA, which can be accessed from romanrite.com/girm.html :
“71. … The intentions are announced from the ambo or from another suitable place, by the deacon or by a cantor, a lector, or one of the lay faithful.
The people, however, stand and give expression to their prayer either by an invocation said together after each intention or by praying in silence.”

Saying the Hail Mary at the end is not “an invocation said together after each intention”.

From the GIRM “138. … After the intentions, the priest, with hands extended, concludes the petitions with a prayer.” So straight from intentions to a prayer by the priest. No provision for a Hail Mary or any other prayer said by everyone.

“139. When the Prayer of the Faithful is completed, all sit, and the Offertory chant begins (cf. above, no. 74).” So people sit to sing. Maybe the song could have the words of the Hail Mary.

Having the congregation say the Hail Mary (or any other prayer which is not said after each intention) during the Prayer of the Faithful is not following the GIRM.
 
There’s one parish I visit semi-regularly and there’s a priest there who always leads the Hail Mary after the prayers of the faithful. He’s the only one I’ve ever encountered who does this. It feels wrong to me. Saying the Hail Mary at another time is fine, but it doesn’t seem to fit in the middle of Mass. The Mass isn’t about Mary.
 
It is popular here in the month of May and is done usually right after the intentions prior to us sitting as the gifts are prepared.
 
We do it after communion. We have a moment of silence for prayer, then the priest begins the Hail Mary, then goes on to the final blessing.
