Lets see if its your problem to. Here are some titles from Titles of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
These are just a few titles given to her that supposedly reflect the truth about her:
Hope of Christians
Lady of Grace
Lady of Victory
Mary, Queen of Angels
Mary, Queen of Peace
Mary, Star of the Sea
More Holy Than the Cherubim, the Seraphim, and the Entire Angelic Hosts
Our Lady, Gate of Heaven
Paradise Fenced Against the Serpent
Star That Bore the Sea
Suppliant for Sinners

Surpassing the Seraphim
Wedded to God

The Scriptures is the only place that tells anything about Mary. If you know the Scriptures you will know that not one of these titles is ever applied to her not even hinted at.

Please reflect on the pasages I have provided, and pray that the Spirit helps you see the divine truth implicitly revealed in the written word in accord with the traditional teachings of the Church.

The Mighty One has done great things for me,
and holy is his name.”

There is so much here that its hard to know where to begin. For starters Do any of these passages in context support these titles? Lets look at the first one you write:
"Mary, Wedded to God, More Holy than the Cherubim, the Seraphim, and the entire Angelic Hosts (Surpassing the Seraphim)

"And the angel said to her in reply, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God.”

How does the HS overshadowing Mary in the conception of Jesus equate to being “Wedded to God”? If you look up the word “overshadow” in a Greek lexicon on this passage you will find nothing in its meaning about a marrige or being wedded.

Where in the NT do we find on the lips of Jesus or in the writings of the apostles such a thing? Do they explicitedly confirm this anywhere in the NT?
“Behold, from now all generations shall call me blessed.
The Mighty One has done great things for me,
and holy is his name.”
Luke 1, 48-49

Blessings are not germaine to candles, or any other inanimate object. Blessing requires people. People can bless an object, and then the object itself can transmit God’s grace, if He so wishes. The grace comes from God, not the candle.
Where do you get the idea that some kind of grace can come through a physical object?

What does it mean when there are candles are lit before a statute of Mary in a Roman Catholic church?

Because God is a gentleman that if He gives His Baby to a Woman, He’s going to marry Her. He’s not going to leave Her and never talk to the Baby again and He’s not going to have a joint custody experience. He is going to marry Her and be with Her forever. This marriage even lasts in Heaven because She already was celebate like the angels.

Actually, JA, that idea comes right from the Bible. . .or do you not remember the passage where the woman with a hemorrhage touches the hem of Jesus’ cloak? (“If I can only touch his cloak”, she thought to herself, “I shall be healed.”)

And Jesus felt power go out from Him when she touched his cloak.

This is true in this case and there is another kind like this in Acts also. Now, did the apostles teach this was to be the norm in which followers of Christ were to ask for help? Did they teach that we are to use some kind of physical object to get the help in the time of need?

Is this offical Catholic teaching? This sounds a lot like the Mormon concept of God if i’m not mistaken.

Who said it was the norm? It just shows that sometimes God uses physical objects to convey His grace. Who are we to question the workings of God? Can He not dispense His grace in any way, shape or form that He wants to? Who are you to limit what God can do? :tsktsk:

  1. Mary, Our Lady Gate of Heaven, Suppliant for Sinners
I reflected a bit on #8 especially ‘Gate of Heaven’ but all I could think about was Jesus…isn’t He ‘the’ door of entrance into heaven ?

John 10:9 “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved…”

how can there be two doors? Remember John 10:1…🤷

She is the gate through which Heaven (Jesus) came to us.

I was listening to a Catholic radio station near Portland, OR today. They actually had a segment from Catholic Answers on the station. I also noticed that this particular station is very centered on Mary. They kept asking Mary to intercede for them to Jesus. They also kept playing chants of Hail Mary prayers. I just don’t get it? Why center so much on Mary as compared to Christ Jesus? I can’t find such deep devotions to Mary in the Bible to validate this kind of attention. Would anybody give me a reason to shift my attention and love from our Triune God to Mary?

Because she was given to us by Jesus Himself on the cross!!!

She is the “sign of these our times” dummy!! You and all these other protestants just don’t get it.

If you are scripture alone - then you should beware of the warnings in the 12th chapter of Apocalypse.

She is the woman clothed with the sun, with her feet on the moon and crowned with 12 stars.

God bless America!!! what will it take??!!

“dummy!!” ?
This is a perfect place to educate people on the Catholic faith.
You should try to think of how a mature Catholic person would respond to people’s questions.
Calling people dummy and names doesn’t uplift your christian walk.
To answer your question about what will it take for God to bless America. Maybe start by improving your attitude.
We can all do our part.
May the Lord God almighty guide our mind, lips and heart.

Came across this article where the pope is “commits the world to Mary” at this link zenit.org/article-23987?l=english

In this article it quotes the pope as saying "With the words of Bartolo, the Pontiff turned to Mary, saying: "If you will not help us because we are ungrateful and unworthy children of your protection, we will not know to whom to turn."

What do you think? Do you consider yourself “ungrateful and unworthy children of your protection” from Mary?

Do look for Mary to protect you?

I see you are doing some research, and that is good.
This article answers your question.

Thank you,it was very educational.
“Christians Pray to Mary: Pope Leo XIII (by Brother John M. Samaha, S.M.)
Christians have always prayed to Mary. From the beginning they have called upon her in times of adversity, trial, persecutions, wars, as well as in times of minor difficulties.
Pope Leo XIII explained why very simply in his encyclical The Supreme Apostolic Office (Supremi Apostolatus), September 1, 1883, n. 82.”
" It has always been the habit of Catholics in danger and in arduous times to fly for refuge to Mary and to seek peace in her maternal goodness, which shows the Catholic Church has always, and with justice, put all her hope and trust in the Mother of God. She who is associated with her Son in the work of the salvation of the human race has favor and power with him greater than any other human or angelic creature has ever obtained or can obtain.
And, as it is her greatest pleasure to grant her help and comfort to those who seek her, it cannot be doubted that she will deign, even anxiously, to receive the aspirations of the Universal church."

If Jesus allows her to. 🙂

If you take a pin in your right hand and poke your left hand, you only feel the pain because your brain sent the message to the nerves in your left hand; all impulses first go through the brain. Likewise, all prayer first goes through Christ; everything is through Him, with Him, and in Him; Mary and the Saints have no power of their own.

John 19: 26-27

Mary is the mother of our Lord and our spiritual mother. You may as well stop loving and honouring your biological mother and shift all your attention to God if that’s how you feel. But when we love and honour our mother or father we love and honour God by observing his will. We believe that Jesus is pleased when we love and honour Mary. We see no reason to do otherwise, since our love of Mary does not diminish our love of God nor his glory. In fact, God is glorified by our devotion to Mary.

“Behold, from now all generations shall call me blessed.
The Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his name.”

I can understand how you feel, since you are outside the Church and severed from the historic Christian faith.
