You are correct, and I stand corrected.


I probably should have stated that the referendum should be worded and passed to dismantle all of the state led gerrymandering of parties that results in obfuscation of political alliance. (Wow…that was a mouthful of potential hoo-ha!) To explain: I am a Florida Resident and a Registered Voter. I consider myself an independent voter, however, I cannot register as an independent voter because there is an “independent party”…thus I am forced to register as “NPA”, meaning that I have no party affiliation"… I cannot vote in primary elections, only major elections.
No matter how you look at it…the two major parties have a stranglehold on our political system, offering us only the opportunity of voting for the lesser of two evils at best, and forcing any other viable candidate to be no more than a “spoiler” deflecting or denying votes to or for one candidate or the other.
People rather than voting a party line should restrict themselves to voting for the best candidate rather than party membership as party membership does not necessarily guarantee validation of stance or position on issues.
