And I am wondering why the people of this country have not demanded a Constitutional Referendum to end the monopoly forced on us by the only two parties permitted by law?

I think we need 5 or 6 at least… rather than being offered the “lesser of two evils every election”.

There is no Constitutional limit to the number of parties 😉

You are correct, and I stand corrected. 😊:o I probably should have stated that the referendum should be worded and passed to dismantle all of the state led gerrymandering of parties that results in obfuscation of political alliance. (Wow…that was a mouthful of potential hoo-ha!) To explain: I am a Florida Resident and a Registered Voter. I consider myself an independent voter, however, I cannot register as an independent voter because there is an “independent party”…thus I am forced to register as “NPA”, meaning that I have no party affiliation"… I cannot vote in primary elections, only major elections.

No matter how you look at it…the two major parties have a stranglehold on our political system, offering us only the opportunity of voting for the lesser of two evils at best, and forcing any other viable candidate to be no more than a “spoiler” deflecting or denying votes to or for one candidate or the other.

People rather than voting a party line should restrict themselves to voting for the best candidate rather than party membership as party membership does not necessarily guarantee validation of stance or position on issues.

One party has a Pledge that says they will defund public payment for abortions (and, I would argue, do many other things that are family friendly).

Really no choice at all for which party for me.

You can certainly be an independent voter come November… but if you want a say in who gets to be on the ballot, then you have to vote in a primary… and if you want to vote in a primary you have to affiliate with a party.

So pick the party whose platform aligns most closely with your beliefs (you probably won’t find a 100% match unless you start your own party), and GET INVOLVED!
