I don’t really celebrate Halloween. I think it’s more of an American holiday. Even as a kid, we never really did much. I was happy if I had a turnip for a jack-o-lantern. For some reasom, the American tradition of using a pumpkin has taken over and nobody uses turnips anymore. I’ll probably spend Halloween doing my best to ignore the trick-or-treaters
Of course, I will be attending Mass the day after Halloween as it’s the Feast of All Saints, which is a Holy Day of Obligation.
I always liked Guy Falkes, or bonfire night as we call it. I may set a small fire in the garden and set off some fireworks for my young nephews.
No (although I’ll go to the Feast of All Saints) and no. I’ve got no problems with Guy Fawkes. Just too busy at work to do much! I’m also one of those people who don’t like fireworks. Sudden loud noises are very bad for my heart (I have a serious heart condition, despite being only 43) and they really upset our dog.
