Halloween movies...have u seen The Ring?

Why did u think The Ring wasn’t scary? LOL Is it because she crawled out of a tv? I personally thought by that point, that it was over the top…ugh, but HER FACE!:eek: That video! Those random scary moments…hair draped in front of her face, and that dreary well. Perhaps it was more disturbing than frightening.

See, I didn’t find “The Sixth Sense” to be scary, and was completely creeped out by “The Ring”. 🤷

“1408” was a great scary story. I love Stephen King’s short stories. I hope the movie does it justice. So few SK stories do transition well to the big screen. “The Shining” was good, as was “Carrie”. Otherwise, they’ve mostly been disappointments.

I am not familiar at all with 1408…what is that about? Sixth Sense–creepy, not scary. The Ring, ugh. Just ugh…no other word. Kids with hair in their faces…crawling around…ugh. Has always been creepy to me. Kids are supposed to be innocent, when they become/turn evil in movies…it’s quite frightening to me.:eek:
 
Ok… I don’t like most scary movies. When The Ring came out, I thought I’d be brave and watch it in the theaters with my husband and sister. By the end of the movie, I was shaking. I will never see that movie again. My imagination was always and still is too vivid and I always end up getting nightmares. It was just so evil and because it didn’t end happily just made it worse. My husband and sister laugh at me about this, but I felt like I was condoning evil while I watched that (which was practically through my hands covering my eyes. LOL)

There are a couple of creepy ones that I did like though:

The Sixth Sense
The Others

Someone mentioned the Exorcism of Emily Rose. It was a good mystery/scary movie, but left me so completely hollow and feeling horrible, that it is another movie I will never see. I know someone who was extremely affected by it, especially at the end when the priest mentions how there is a darkness left upon you once something like that happens within your life. The person I know felt that darkness before and when the priest in the movie said that, he said he just started weeping as it was so true for him. I want to see “Requiem” - the German movie about the real girl who ended up dying during the exorcism. The Exorcism of Emily Rose is based on this German girl’s story.

I agree! I have a vivid imagination, and couldn’t sleep well last night.😊 My own stupid fault for watching it though!:rolleyes:

That being said…I think the film presents a very interesting choice that the main character had to make. (although she made it unbeknownst to her while she made it) When she made a second copy of the tape, this causes her to live. Yet, this is what Samara (the child) wanted, because she would continue to ‘live’ and perpetuate her evil. So, that is what the dilemma is…the moral dilemma. Imagine being faced with that choice…on the one hand you can live, on the other, you are perpetuating evil in the world, for more people to get hurt, but hey…you end up living. So, as non-redeeming as it was, it had that element of thought provocation to it, I think.

Anyways…I’m done with the rings…! No more! I won’t watch The Ring Two…I actually heard the original Japanese version of The Ring (Ringu) was 10x scarier than The Ring? What happens? Does the girl ***really come out ***of one’s tv set then??😃
 
Yeah, 1408 was also a fantastic movie.

I personally thought the Japanese version of The Ring (Ringu) to be not frightening in the least.

I always thought the the movie was a documentary on the origin of the chain letter (or in this case chain video!). Make a copy and pass it on…or else! 😉

I wasn’t too impressed with it. It was quite disturbing. But I prefer scary movies that also have a humorous side (Scream trilogy, Signs, and such).

They’ve got good taste. I’ve added Disturbia to my Netflix recently…looks interesting
