Halloween or Not

We do make a point to either go to an All Saints Day party or to host a celebration of our own.

We do not observe Halloween because
  1. We have a better alternative–All Saints Day.
  2. Even though for most people, it’s a harmless secular holiday, for some people–there will be real suffering and serious sin in the form of pagan worship and sacrifice. I’d rather not honor the secular holiday.
However, I believe it’s a personal decision made by every family. And, in fact, I know many very devout and holy families and priests who love the secular celebration of Halloween.
