HALO and other VIDEO GAMES

My 12 year old wants to get the Halo video game.I’ve heard it isn’t that bad ,but it is rated mature.Also ,any good sites for reading reviews ?
 
Well, it is a shooting game from the first person point of view. The plot is basicly some aliens are taking over this space station “Halo”. You, a Master Chief in the space Navy (or something like that, been a while since I played :P) Basicly try and stop them.

You shoot a bunch of aliens. In fact, you shoot a whole lot of aliens. That is about it.

I rather enjoyed the game. However, I played it when I was about 18. I am not sure how a 12 year old would take it.

PS. I forget about the first one, but in Halo 2 they do curse a bit.
 
Halo 2 delved a bit more into the story line of the aliens attacking the humans. It seems the alien culture is based on a religious cult they call “The Covenant”. Halo 2 reveals that the prophecies the Covenant is founded on are false. The leaders of the covenant are trying to cover up this fact. The result of this false prophecy is leading the aliens to activate the dormant Halo space stations which are really weapons that will kill all life in the galaxy.

I liked the game, but I’m suspicious that the game is turning into a message that religion is just a tool to lead gullible people. The only religion discussed in the game is a religion that is false.
 
I’d highly recommend Kingdom Hearts 1 0r 2 and Katamari Damacy if you have a PS2.
 
Thanks all.I did purchase the game,and ended up taking it back.It was pretty bloody.I got him Star Wars battlefield 2 instead.
