Is the priestly hand cross unique to the Eastern Churches, or did it once exist in the West, as well?

Thanks and God Bless!

It apparently existed in the early Celtic Christianity (parchments can be found of bishops holding crosses). This may not be surprising as some evidence exists for a link between Celtic and Coptic monasticism, and in the Alexandrian tradition the hand cross is used almost unceasingly by the priest.
