Well said. That’s good advice. I am trying to take him at his word, and I’m glad I didn’t question him when he said that. I don’t plan to do so in the future. I am unfortunately paranoid, but I recognize that I am, and I am really trying to just stamp the urge to question and doubt him, but it still gets to me. In a way, it’s easy to doubt and be skeptical.
If a guy does something that you find portends some meaning and he claims it means nothing, it is totally OK to say, “Well, you’d better be careful, because a lot of women would take that seriously. When a guy is that comfortable with you, well, sometimes women draw conclusions, you know.” Then he’ll know, “hmmm…what means nothing to me may seem to mean something to them.”

“Hey, pull my finger!”

Pinky promise?

“I told you it was this way, but NO, you said you don’t NEED directions!”
lol

Man. I was going to answer. But you did such a perfect job. I’m directing all my mail your way from now on. 👍

Peace Fauken.

Well, then enlighten me. What is the significance of

Just holing someone’s index finger

Linking pinky fingers

and my favourite, when a woman just grabs the man’s sleeve near his wrist?
Yeah. See Fauken’s answer. Nothing can top it.

If I’m holding a “platonic friend’s” hand, we’re probably square dancing. Laced fingers are inappropriate in square dancing because you have to release quickly. I can’t think of any other reason for me to hold a grown man’s hand other than my husband or father’s.
I loved this. Thanks for that imagery. 😃

Lacing fingers can mean more intimacy or closeness but not necessarily in a romantic way. Example: a retreat I went on when I was high school and college age, groups would often hold hands this way. It didn’t matter if the person next you was male or female.

O/T I wish people wouldn’t use intimacy to mean sexual or romantic. There are other kinds of intimacy: emotional, spiritual, even intellectual.

Yeah. That’s true. It’s too bad it’s such an automatic connection these days.

The only situations I can picture holding a platonic friend’s hand are certain types of dancing and trying to stick together in a crowd. Either way, this seems like extreme over-analysis.

Fast-forward to the future, I will be holding my son’s arm when he is a toddler, so I will want to hold hands with my husband differently. Besides, it feels more romantic, intimate and sometimes erotic to lace it, and wrong to lace it with my kid or mom, IMHO. Lacing is something that I reserve only for my eros loved one (hubby).
