Handbook of Prayers Question

Hi all. Sorry for the cross-post, but I got no answers in Spirituality, so maybe I thought I’d ask the regulars in Liturgy instead.

I noticed that Scepter Publishers’ “Handbook of Prayers” has a section entitled “Blessings.” Are these blessings taken from the “Book of Blessings”? And if so, are they adaptable for use by laypeople, the “Book of Blessings” does for some orders?

I am not familiar with this publication, but blessings are a long tradition of the church. In fact, we encourage all parents to regularly bless their children and spouses to bless their spouses whenever we do sacramental prep in our parish. Any thing that calls God to be a very significant part of our life is worthwhile in my estimation. After all, whenever a blessing is said, we say may God bless you. With all things keep praying!

The Blessings are taken from 2 sources - ‘The Book of Blessings’ and ‘Additional Blessings for Use in the United States’. There are only 15 blessings in the book:

Blessing of Holy Water outside Mass
Blessing of an Advent Wreath
Blessing of a Christmas Creche or Manger Scene
Blessing of a Christmas Tree
Blessing of a New Home
Blessing for a Place of Work
Blessing of Travelers (Shorter Rite)
Blessing of a Mother before Childbirth (Short Formulary)
Blessing of a Mother after Childbirth (Short Formulary)
Blessing and Imposition with the Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Blessing and Thanksgiving at Meals
Blessing of Rosaries (Shorter Rite)
Blessing of Rosaries (Short Formulary)
Blessing of Religious Articles (Short Formulary)
Blessing of a Means of Transportation (Shorter Rite)

The majority of them are intended to be used by a priest or deacon - the ones primarily for laypeople to use are the blessings for an Advent wreath, Manger Scene, and Christmas tree. I don’t know how adaptable they are for use by laypeople as I don’t really know much about that.
