I am a convert to Catholicism from a very anti-Catholic family. My mother is studying for a counseling degree at Pentecostal Theological Seminary. This semester she is taking an elective course in Historical Theology where one of the course objectives is to “…enter into appreciative dialogue with adherents and practitioners of other Christian traditions”, which is code-speak for “get Catholics to leave the Church”. The course is supposed to cover the apostolic age to the reformation.
On the required reading list, there is not a single Catholic book. The only “Catholic” book on the recommended reading list is none other than The Catholic Church: A Short History by the oh-so-orthodox (sarcasm intended) Hans Kung. I have apologetics references all over the place, but I am not familiar with any resources that will help me correct the impressions a person will get from reading such unfair revisionist history texts. Any ideas?
