Hans Kung is not what I would describe as “orthodox”.
He is a Catholic priest, and a very smart theologian, however he is also in heresy. Particularly he denies the Dogma of Papal Infallibility in his book “Infallible:An inquiry”(Collins publishers 1971).
He had his Licentiate revoked not long after this book if I remember correctly. He was to be chucked out of Tubingan University Catholic Theology department because he had no licence anymore, however cut a deal where he was named Professor of Ecumenical studies, where I suppose he spends his afternoons straightening paper-clips.
(Actually he is working on something called “Welt-Ethik”, or World ethics)
