Because a feast was the principle way of celebrating back in the day. We still retain the idea of feasting for Thanksgiving, and to a lesser extent it’s survived for Christmas and even Easter.

For kids today of course, if they are like I was, November 1 is a day to feast on the leftover candy from the night before.
 
We Catholics ,honor All Saints,on This day to show them ,whow much we are greatful for their Intersession ,it helping us when we call upon them.
