Several of us talked about reading this book during Lent and discussing it. I thought we should have a place to discuss here but dear Mr Casey if you’d like us to head off to a different forum for our discussion, please let us know.

I have read the first three chapters and am very eager to continue. I do admit that his writing syle took a bit of getting used to! I found the first couple of chapters a bit off-putting and pompous. :o
 
Of course anyone can join! Before we get to practical suggestions, Fr. Dubay talks about the call to gospel poverty being universal. It is not just for those under religious vows or a crazy few others. He does define the difference between gospel poverty and material poverty (and our perceptions of material poverty that may not be true). So no, we are not called to live in destitute squalor. But then again neither is anyone else - so what we can do to alleviate that for others is part of our goal of spiritual poverty.
 
Thank you for starting this thread! I have read the first two chapters. These chapters seem to be setting up for the meat of his assertions. I’m also getting used to his style, and trying not to be impatient.

Radical gospel poverty in the married life - I’m looking forward to reading what this means.

I don’t have much to discuss yet, but wanted you to know that I am also reading.
