Happy Birthday at Mass?

The Church building is the house of God.

Inside this House of God there is a tabernacle.

Inside that tabernacle is the Blessed Sacrament…

Excuse me – inside the tabernacle is God Almighty - God the Son - the word that was spoken to create everything - everything - just look outside - at everything. Just look up at everything… just look at the little children, the little babies - everything…

The Alpha and the Omega who became one of us because we screwed it up thousands of years ago - just to die for us in reparation for what happened thousands of years ago and all the sins we commit in our lives every day.

How dare they do such a thing in His house.

Make me think of Protestantism - how they shout and talk loudly amongst themselves in church - because God is NOT ACTUALLY present there in the Blessed Sacrament.

And the Choir to do it at that. I would have expected that from some ignorant people not schooled in the Catholic Faith. Such a shame, such a shame of what we as Catholics have become today.

At one of our local churches, the tabernacle has been moved off to the side of the church and after Mass, while the Priest is still by the altar, someone asks the congregation who has had birthdays, and everyone sings Happy Birthday, and then everyone is asked who has an anniversary. This is a Weekly Teen Mass with a band.

:blessyou:

Okay. Thanks for the advice. It just irks me that they would sing Happy Birthday on the Lord’s Day.

I hope you meant in the Lord’s House not on the Lord’s Day

It really isn’t surprising - there are just a WHOLE lot of people who really don’t understand the Church. People are unwilling to put aside their egos and feel-goodism even in the presence of Jesus Christ.

Yeah! Feeling good isn’t very Catholic. They should join another church if they want to feel good. Some CINO are smart enough to get the message and do just that. Good riddance.

It doesn’t belong in Church. If they want to do it after Choir practice, if they practice in another room, that is fine, but it does not belong in church.
Why?

Sing? To celebrate the birth of one of his people?
