:amen:

I’ll see if I can take a picture of the newly-restored statue of Our Lady that was done in a local church here as a birthday present - it’s gorgeous :yup:

Happy Birthday Mary! :extrahappy:

…I guess she won’t tell us how old she is. 😃

😃 😃 😃 2000 and something.

Happy Birthday to Our Blessed, Holy and Loving Mother! May this be the year that ALL her children turn to her so that she may lead them ALL to her Son.

In the Orthodox Church, she also receives honour, as this is commemorated as the Nativity of the Theotokos. The troparion and kontakion for this day goes as such:

Troparion - Tone 4

Your Nativity, O Virgin,
Has proclaimed joy to the whole universe!
The Sun of Righteousness, Christ our God,
Has shone from You, O Theotokos!
By annulling the curse,
He bestowed a blessing.
By destroying death, He has granted us eternal Life.

Kontakion - Tone 4

By Your Nativity, O Most Pure Virgin,
Joachim and Anna are freed from barrenness;
Adam and Eve, from the corruption of death.
And we, your people, freed from the guilt of sin, celebrate and sing to you:
The barren woman gives birth to the Theotokos, the nourisher of our life!

“The Nativity of Our Lady” by Andrea di Bartolo:

From a discourse by Saint Andrew of Crete in today’s Office of Readings:

"…This radiant and manifest coming of God to men most certainly needed a joyful prelude to introduce the great gift of salvation to us. The present festival, the birth of the Mother of God, is the prelude, while the final act is the fore-ordained union of the Word with flesh. Today the Virgin is born, tended and formed and prepared for her role as Mother of God, who is the universal King of the ages.

"Justly, then, do we celebrate this mystery since it signifies for us a double grace. We are led toward the truth, and we are led away from our condition of slavery to the letter of the law. How can this be? Darkness yields before the coming of the light, and grace exchanges legalism for freedom. But midway between the two stands today’s mystery, at the frontier where types and symbols give way to reality, and the old is replaced by the new.

“Therefore, let all creation sing and dance and unite to make worthy contribution to the celebration of this day. Let there be one common festival for saints in heaven and men on earth. Let everything, mundane things and those above, join in festive celebration. Today this created world is raised to the dignity of a holy place for him who made all things. The creature is newly prepared to be a divine dwelling place for the Creator.”

Happy birthday, Mary!

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.

Happy Birthday, Mother Mary! That’s what my nearly three y.o. grandson calls Her now! Today he was at my house - he is not baptized since his mother/my daughter doesn’t believe in organized religion 😦 (but says she believes in Jesus - I became a convert from protestantism since she became adult and she was baptized as a baby in the Lutheran church as her father wished). My daughter then spent a couple years as girlfriend to a Seventh Day Adventist (who was not nearly as anti-Catholic as my daughter is now). Anyway, I have been praying to our BVM so hard for them (plus my daughter’s fiancee and my baby granddaughter) and today I put on a tape I’d just gotten that’s an animated childrens’ telling of St. Juan Diego and the Virgin of Guadelupe from The Rosary Center. Whenever the BVM was appearing and/or talking, including appearing on the tilma, my grandson would just pull his feet under him onto the nearest chair to where he was at the moment - always moving!!! - and watch with rapt attention. He would stay entirely still all while She was onscreen. It was the most amazing thing. After it was over he looked at me and said “Mother Mary?” (I have a number of pictures and statues of Her around but none of Her as the BVM of Guadelupe.) :bowdown2: :crossrc: :gopray2: :hug3: :amen:

Happy Birthday Blessed Virgin Mary. And Happy Birthday to my grandmother who was also born the same day (but several years later:D ).

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death. Amen. 🙂

Happy Birthday most dear Mother Mary!!!
:clapping::extrahappy::bounce::dancing:
What would you like as a Birthday present?
I suppose, as happens with most mothers I know, their favorite present is that their children behave well, :love: that brothers do not quarrel between them, so I am hoping we all can offer you as a present, to reconcile with someone, or to forgive someone :console: or simply to do some good to those around us and pray for love and peace in every heart!

We love you dearly and thank your for your motherly love!!!
