Happy Birthday, Your Holiness!

May you continue to reign, to lead, and to guide us!

[Wish I knew how to give birthday greetings in German. My late mother was born in Germany and came to the US when she was a little girl. She died a year and a day short of the Holy Father’s election. I wonder how she would have reacted to a fellow German as Pope. She always called John Paul II ‘The Big Kielbasa’, or else just ‘The Kielbasa’ ! ]

Happy Birthday your holiness, Pope Benedict XVI.

May the Lord grant you long life and health to continue leading His church and His people.

From today’s Liturgy of the Hours:

You sent the disciples into the world, to proclaim the Gospel to every creature:
give the life of the Spirit to those who proclaim the good news.
– Lord, establish your kingdom in the world.

[Robintrinket]

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
