I thought that some of the old timers on this forum would enjoy the Easter Mass that I am linking. I am not that old as the video but I remember the traditional mass very well when I was young.

Would you like to run that one back by me again?? Are you quibbling about the name Easter? Would you be happier if we called it Pasch? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. Yes, yes, all of us are aware that Easter and Eostre are linked but hey blame the Anglo-Saxons for the name and, if I am not mistaken, the reformers (e.g. KJV) kept the name. Semantics my friend, merely semantics.

Sorry Hisalone, Pagans don’t celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ our Saviour.

And people are not even sure that the Name Easter came from the Pagan goddess (while pronounced similar the word I saw was spelled different)

Even if it is named after some goddess, you can’t accidentally worship someone. I worship Jesus and celebrate His resurrection on a day called Easter. I bet you worship Jesus on a day called “Sunday” named after sun worship… Are you accidentally worshiping the sun? I hope not!

I remember hearing something on this that said something different about the name “Easer” as a name for “spring” or something like that. Anyway. As we celebrate a great holiday like the 4th of July in this country, so we, Christians, celebrate another type of independence day. We call that day “Easter” or in some circles “Resurection Day”. Chrisitans celebrate the resurection of Christ every Sunday, but Liturgically most Chrisitans celebrate the suffering, death, burial and resurection of Christ each passing year.

Just a few thoughts from me, apparently thought to be a pagan for believing in Christ’s resurrection…😉 .

As it was told to me by a priest many moons ago, the word Lent comes from the Anglo-Saxon word for spring.

As a religious Jew I have no problem with Gentiles celebrating their holidays. Why do you?

I too regard aspects of Easter as pagan but if it works for them, and makes them feel holy and hopeful, who cares what they do or believe? As long as Christians don’t mandate that I or other Jews also believe or practice it, who cares?

I’m all for whatever makes people into better people!

I am glad that you found the video beautiful. I will be attending such a Mass on Monday. It should be a beautiful experience where childhood memories will surface. Happy Easter to you!
 
Since this is just a Happy Easter greeting, I would appreiciate it if we do not debate with pagans on this thread. Lets just wish everyone a happy easter and be at peace on this thread.

Happy Easter to you to, have just returned from The Easter Vigil, my first. It was special to say the least. God Bless:)
