Happy Feast Day of St. Thomas Aquinas everybody!

Perhaps some of you who know his life would like to share.

I’ve read somewhere he chased a prostitute out of his chambers with a red hot poker.

The Wikipedia article is actually good. We read a children’s story about his life years ago, my kids were very taken by the idea that his parents actually had him kidnapped away from the Dominicans because they wanted him to be a Benedictine. He eventually escaped out the window sort of like St Paul! I imagine he’s a favorite Saint among those whose parents oppose their vocations!

I heard differently. His extraordinary patience won him his freedom. After two years of captivity, his parents and siblings grew weary of waiting for him to change his mind, eventually he was freed.

What I like the most here is that he does not merely want to perfectly carry out and desire what he thinks will bring the glory of God but includes “prudently examine”. Something very uncommon to hear these days where people do many things in the name of God’s glory but don’t care about the prudence of the act.

You gotta love St. Thomas. One Holy and Sharp Cookie. Btw, Yes He did chase a prostitute out of His Chamber. His Parents wanted to steay Him from Religious life. They failed. Miserably. Ardent Defender of the EUCHARIST and Angelic Doctor, Please pray for me and the whole Church. We need Your wisdom St. Thomas!! Sancta Thomas Aquinas, Ora Pro Nobis!!
