Are you doing anything special on this feast day?

Our family has taken a tall white votive candle and written the names of our dearly departed on it. Every evening in November we will light the candle and say a prayer for them. I got this idea from Kendra of Catholic All Year.

I will visit my loved ones at the cemetery today if I have time. I’ll also be visiting periodically throughout the month. We take lanterns and candles to the gravesites and talk a little about that person’s life and then pray for their soul.

I love this idea. I wish I lived closer to our family burial grounds. For now, my candle will have to suffice.

I don’t live close to my Loved one’s cemeteries. A local parish is having a remembrance Mass this evening which I plan to attend. It’s nice to to be able to go to Mass on Friday evening.

Today is a great day to make a very easy plenary indulgence for a Holy Soul! Besides the usual conditions (confession, communion, prayers for the Holy Father, free of attachment to sin), today only you can simply visit a church or chapel and recite the Our Father and Apostles Creed. This indulgence is only for a Holy Soul. And between November 1-8, you can also gain a Plenary Indulgence for a Holy Soul by devoutly making a visit to a cemetery and praying for the dead.

What is the time frame for the confession? I will be doing the rest this evening except for confession. I confessed this past Saturday. Also I suppose it’s okay if the person I make the indulgence for died 20 years ago?
Thanks

About twenty days before or after the indulgenced act.

Well, it’s not a feast, nor is it a joyful day. But I get your message, thanks.

So, did you do anything special on that day to commemorate the souls of the departed?

Yes, we had a Requiem High Mass, at which I served, and I have been visiting cemeteries each day, for the All Souls novena.
