Today is the feast of the Bris.
(I thought this was a “Traditional Catholicism” forum.)

Thank you and ay God bless you and the other moderators this year too. I am grateful for you.

I had to answer this one and wish you a Happy 2014 – the reason being is that my Mom’s maiden name was Casey – and her Dad, my grandfather, lived with us for many years when I was growing up – I just love the Irish and loved Ireland when I visited many years ago!!!

Have a blessed and happy New Year, Mr. Casey and thank you for being a moderator.

They have really messed up the calendar. Things used to progress in an orderly fashion beginning with Christmas. On the octave of the feast we celebrated his circumcision, which made him officially a member of the house of Israel. Next came the feast of the Holy Name on 2 January or the Sunday between the Circumcision and Epiphany. Twelfth day (6 January) was Epiphany. The first Sunday after Epiphany was the feast of the Holy Family, and 13 January was the commemoration of the Baptism of Christ.
In spite of its importance the feast of the circumcision has be eliminated altogether and the feast of the motherhood of Mary supplants it having been translated from 11 October.
I want the feast of the circumcision back again. We didn’t need to move another Marian feast; it was fine just where it was.
