Happy Passover !
In 33AD, Passover fell on April 3rd.

Interestingly enough, today in 2007, Passover falls on April 3rd.

But is it proper to cheer “Happy Passover”? 🤷
Isn’t Passover the day Jesus was crucified? 😦

I think today should be a sombre day of prayer and reflection. :signofcross:
Let’s save the festivities for the Resurrection. :bowdown2:

To all of our Jewish friends here on the fora, have a Blessed Passover. :blessyou:

There’s always one, isn’t there?

Thanks. It was a long road, but we finally made it from slavery to freedom (then back to slavery again, then to freedom, then back…)
Oi…

May the Lord touch your heart and give you His wisdom this Passover. 🙂

Sorry, b_justb; I didn’t mean to be a party-pooper.

I just think that Passover is very important to Christians because is it an important prophecy, and the Crucifixion fulfills it.

Like the way the Jews were sacrificing a lamb for their freedom from slavery, God sacrificed the perfect lamb, Jesus, for our freedom from sin.

I didn’t mean to belittle Passover; I think it is fascinating. The timing of the Crucifixion at Passover is no co-incidence, but indeed a miracle.

My sincere apologies if I offended anybody.

Hey does anyone know how to read Hebrew? Or know anyone who knows anyone…?

I have a picture here that was sent to my company by an Israeli customer, presumably as a Passover greeting. Can anyone help decode it? If you want a larger version of the picture I can email it to you.

No - Good Friday was the day Jesus was crucified. 😉

Passover was the day God delivered the Israelites from Egypt 🙂

Rather like my birthday may be 8 April, Easter may also be 8 April but they’re two very different beasts.

A joyous Passover to all our Jewish CAF-ers.

Actually,

We cannot be sure whether Jesus did die in exactly 33 A.D. It was somewhere between 29-36 A.D. One of them could be Jesus’ Death (and Resurrection) Year. The date you cited is possible (Apr. 3, 33) but we aren’t exactly sure. Among other candidates are 7 April 30 and 30 March 36.

Hi Lily,

If your birthday happens to fall on the same date as Easter, that would be a co-incidence.

But when Jesus was crucified on Passover, that was not a co-incidence; God’s timing of the crucifixion was impeccable. (See Post # 10 above.)

Hi Patrick,

I’m fascinated at the evidence that leads me to believe that the crucifixion took place on Friday 3rd April, 33AD. There was a lunar eclipse that day!

Ok, let’s rework the example a little. If December 25th is my birthday it’s still a little different to December 25th being Christmas. They’re related because they always fall together each year. That is more than you can say for Passover, which doesn’t always precisely coincide with Easter if my understanding is correct.

The two may even be intentionally related because my parents planned ahead and induced my birth on that day so as to be able to combine birthday and Christmas presents (being cheapskates). But it still doesn’t make the two events precisely the same thing.

Theoretically, Easter is the Sunday that follows Passover.

Don’t dismiss the connections between Passover and the Crucifixion; The parrallels between these two stories are fascinating. Even St Paul highlights this in his letter to the Corinthians…

1 Corinthians 5:7 - … Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.
