Happy Shavuot to One and All

The Jewish holiday of Shavuot began Saturday evening and ends tomorrow (Monday) evening. It is a major Jewish holiday which celebrates G-d’s giving of the Torah (Law) to the Jewish people.

On this bloody and horrific weekend of terrorist violence, I think we can all benefit from the teachings of mercy, kindness, and goodness that the Law contains and which Christianity through the Person of Jesus has adopted as well.

Dairy products are traditional during this holiday since milk is compared to the nourishment of the Torah.

A good Shavuot to you as well! Let us pray for all of those who are victims of the violence that has been unleashed during this time, and hope and pray there is no more…

Happy Shavuot meltzerboy! Hope you enjoy the holiday. Are you supposed to stay up all night reading the Torah? I have forgotten.

Yes, Shavuot is the all-nighter holiday. But at least one is permitted to eat at the same time, preferably dairy products such as ice cream and cheesecake! There is thought to be something better or sharper regarding the mind about studying at night than during the day although the thirst for understanding remains unquenchable.
