Is it a sin to listen to hardcore music?
What do you mean by hardcore? Is it a sin to listen to hardcore music?
No there is nothing wrong with the lyrics.Hardcore as in Heavy Metal or as in filthy, blasphemous lyrics?
In general, if listening to such music could present an occasion for sin to erupt, as in thoughts or actions, it should be avoided. In itself, the music isn’t usually problematic, it’s the lyrics.
If we’re going to get scriptural about it, I’d invoke Matthew 15:10-11.hi all just putting some scripture behind Joe’s post St. Paul’s letter to the Romans 14:12-23 deals with doing things that are in themselves alright but to those who are weak it may lead them astray.
Er…how does classical music dissipate the mind? That sounds like a joke. God gave musicians a gift, and he wishes for them to use it the way he intended.(I’m of the opinion that Classical Music is also; it dissipates the mind, but in much lesser degree than Rock)
Just curious, who do you listen to?I listen to quite hardcore music, however I always check the lyrics first and make sure they are ok. I never listen to anything with bad lyrics.

What if it was written as penance?Classical Music dissipates the mind by worldly frivolous sentiments to a certain degree.
Most classical musicians seem to care more about music than saving their souls.
Christian Metal, i.e. Underoath, ect.Just curious, who do you listen to?
Oh, please, you’ve got to be joking. Can’t people just have a hobby that focuses on something different than saving their soul every once in a while? I have to say, playing music is one of the most intense experiences I’ve had, I can’t really explain what it’s like. I’m happy that God gave me this gift and I have used it to play the piano/drums at my church.Classical Music dissipates the mind by worldly frivolous sentiments to a certain degree.

Great to see another Kamelot fan here! Awesome band. I have all their albums. However, there is some fantastic metal I listen to, with great, meaningful lyrics. One of my favorite metal bands is Kamelot (progessive metal; metal with strings or an orchestra to accompany them.).
So what type of music do you listen to? I’m very curious! Most people that condemn rock music seem to elevate classical music with the same motion. It’s very interesting to me that you criticize both of them!Rock music is said to be production of the devil.

Sin? I don’t know.Is it a sin to listen to hardcore music?
I used to own Slayer albums, Dio, Metallica and many other metal bands. Slayer is absolutely Satanic. They themselves leave no room for question on that issue. This music is used to corrupt the masses and the wicked and vile, blasphemous pagan god Pan is the culprit. I was mislead for many years with this kind of music as a teenager. I now realize of course that Satan and his lower minions use music to implant doubts and invoke emotions that are unhealthy. Some years ago I shared a house with two very good friends. Both Christians, and both int the skate boarding, bmx, and surfing. One evening I was listening to some “hardcore”. I’m sure some of you have heard of SLAYER. ( My music tastes have changed over the years and they are no longer a part of my collection). They had never heard of SLAYER before. They asked me to turn the volume up.
To be honest I felt uncomfortable with this as I had to point out that SLAYER stands for Satan Laughs As You Eternally Rot. They didn’t seem to mind this which suprised me. I tried to explain to them that this was as bad as it gets (except maybe for Deicide) for the anti christ using music as a way to corrupt the masses.
