It seems that most people say they are a christian ,or a krishna follower without really knowing much aout it .
I think on such an important subject one should do some real homework .

As a christian ,but one who believes in reincarnation among other things ,I come up against total denial and a non desire to discuss or hear further . I know a great dea l about the Vedic religion ,and believe that Jesus Christ is God ,as I believe that Krishna is God too. God appears to humanity at predetermined times in human history and when the culture is ready to receive Him .

I could write more ,but I would like you to tell me why you say Jesus is just a prophet,and that the religion is only 500 years before the Christian era ?

That’s really interesting.

How did you come to this belief?
Matthew am going to suggest another thread instead of this one ,as the poster has not answered and the post is mainly supposed to be about questions on the Vedic practice to
a practitioner ?.

I am technically illiterate,so am going to suggest a title to you for you to start in your mail box .

Stage 4: God is our child. Of course He is still the supreme but in order to develop a special relationship with us, He acts as a child who depends on our devotional service for His nourishment. (See Yasoda in the Srimad Bhagavatam)
So, you believe in a god who is dependent upon man? A creator who is dependent upon his creatures?

i would not take this as a definitive explanation of this religion ;just as there are people in all religions at different levels? the same is true for this one ;
there are those who believe that jesus is god , the more advanced ones if only a minority;

SORRY MY CAPS WERE ON EXCUSE BAD PUNCTUATION:)

This seems to me to be another cafeteria type religion with a very confused theology based upon scant knowledge of a variety of religions; i.e. one can simultaneously believe in the resurrection and reincarnation, two conflicting doctrines.

If one has assented to the knowledge that Jesus is God, I find it very difficult to believe that one could remain in this religion without completely ignoring what Christ said about himself and therefore denying Truth. I could cut someone a lot of slack who was ignorant of Christ’s divinity, but not one who professes it and then remains within this faith tradition.

Peace.

Steve

Stage 5: The highest and most ecstatic stage in which we develop an intimate relationship with the Lord as Radharani in the Srimad Bhagavatam.

Could you explain what Radharani and Srimad Bhagavatam, mean?

Hello, thank you for starting this topic!

Is it true that to convert (be practicing within the ISKCON movement) that one must or is at least strongly encouraged to lead a monastic lifestyle? If so, doesn’t this strongly impact your conversion of married people or in the case of widows and divorcees: parents? If not, do married and parent converts (who must work to support their dependents) participate in a manner that is different or the same as those I see with robes and shaved heads?

Thank you in advance for your time and answers!

As someone who went in the opposite direction, I was so turned off by this movement and other theosophical or elitist forms of religion that suppose a “special knowledge” is needed to advance oneself spiritually.

Gandhi (disregarding humanitarian and simply looking at faith) said “Theosophy is Hinduism at its best.”

He was talking about Blavatsky and her book.

Blavatsky quote:

“Mankind is obviously divided into god-informed men and lower human creatures. The intellectual difference between the Aryan and other civilized nations and such savages as the South Sea Islanders, is inexplicable on any other grounds. No amount of culture, nor generations of training amid civilization, could raise such human specimens as the Bushmen, the Veddhas of Ceylon, and some African tribes, to the same intellectual level as the Aryans, the Semites, and the Turanians so called. The ‘sacred spark’ is missing in them and it is they who are the only inferior races on the globe, now happily – owing to the wise adjustment of nature which ever works in that direction – fast dying out. Verily mankind is ‘of one blood,’ but not of the same essence. We are the hot-house, artificially quickened plants in nature, having in us a spark, which in them is latent” (The Secret Doctrine, Vol. 2, p 421).

I know there is a difference between Hinduism and ISKCON but such a theological variant does not pertain to the issue that Gandhi is speaking about.

True Mysticism and Union with God comes in the form of Catholicism and its great mystics.

Mysticism on earth is not the ultimate goal for everyone and virtually no one achieves it. The religion is unattainable for the common man and thus relegated to esoteric invention.

Hello everyone! I am a Hare Krishna who was raised Catholic and thought this might be an interesting place to start a dialogue.

Any questions, comments, objections, etc.?
What significance to Hare Krishna does your username of "Vairagya Vidya"have?

What does “Gaudiya Vaisnava” mean and why do you list it as your religion instead of “Hare Krishna?” Is it a spiritual phrase akin to me listing “John 3:16” or “In Communion with Rome” as my religion?

Worship of Krishna is dated by scholars to have existed as far back as 500 BCE.

It gained popularity in the United States because an Indian spiritual teacher known as His Divine Grace AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada came to New York from Calcutta by ship as an order from His spiritual master in the 1960’s. He would sit in Central Park chanting the Hare Krishna Mantra which in time attracted a group of followers. He introduced his students to the ancient science of Krishna Consciousness and by the time of His death in 1978, His movement had branches in multiple countries.
The Beatles helped to 😃
