**Harmful Revolution
**
The sexual revolution resulted in a carnage,
By separating sex, reproduction, and marriage,
Destroying families, increasing many abuses,
Decreasing trust, and spreading sexual diseases.

Casual sex was the object of the sexual revolution.
Children were to be avoided or killed by contraception.
Long-term commitment was to be no longer required.
Just sexual pleasure whenever and wherever desired.

Traditional marriage is degraded by frequent divorce,
Breaking up families, leaving children much worse,
Lacking good role models, children develop poorly,
Poverty and violence increase, and the world suffers greatly.

People are now used as objects of another’s pleasure,
Used and discarded as suits someone else’s leisure,
Failure to please leads to rape, terror, and violence,
Often leading to depression and suffering in silence.

Commitment in relationships has been greatly reduced,
Value is placed mostly on what is currently produced.
In sickness and health, abandonment is now common,
And sacrificing for another is outside of their reason.

The answer is simple to the revolution, just say NO WAY,
Reserve sex for committed marriage and keep it that way,
Sacrifice in love for your spouse in good times and bad,
Raise a good loving family, and avoid the current fad.

You are quite right. I lived through all of it. Prior to 1968, there were social norms whether you were religious or not. No, it was not perfect, but it worked. It really worked. God was not just God in Church. Catholics - most Catholics - took their beliefs and lived them every day. Bad behavior was discouraged, moderation was encouraged and there was a true sense of joy and community. The rules were not vague. They were for our benefit. Then I watched as dissidents inside and outside the Church wanted us to worship the god Change. The old ways were old. A new, non-God based order was created. The mind of man was exalted above the wisdom, knowledge and teachings of the Church.

I watched people I knew gradually fall into illegal drug use and wrong uses of human sexuality and call them good. Divorce for cause was replaced by No-Fault Divorce. Pope Benedict identified the current mindset very well:

"We are moving toward a dictatorship of relativism which does not recognize anything as for certain and which has as its highest goal one’s own ego and one’s own desires. The church must defend itself against threats such as “radical individualism” and “vague religious mysticism”. [emphasis added]

Commentary from the Practical Catholic:

“Pope Benedict does not play language games, he is unconcerned with the postmodernist’s corner on untruth. Neither should we be. Notice how he calls relativism a “dictatorship” instead of agreeing that no values and no Truth are the way forward for society. What many fail to recognize is that imposing nihilism and arbitrary tribalism is a form of dictatorship. Where untruth or half truth is the common order, there can only be oppression. Political correctness has asked us to abandon our value-laden language and to pick up a new language proper to the secular forum. However, this secular newspeak is value-laden against the traditional claims of the Western world and as such, is a poison rather than a new order. We can and should bring our own conviction laden language to the table, if we’re going to have any sort of real dialogue at all. Misinformation and restrained convictions are not the proper building blocks for a democracy.”

We were lied to - deceived by strangers. The truth remains the truth.
