I just got a copy of Bible: The Story of the King James Version by Gordon Campbell and am planning to read it. Has anyone else here read it, and if so, what do you think of it?

Not yet, but it looks interesting. I may add it to my Kindle.I just got a copy of Bible: The Story of the King James Version by Gordon Campbell and am planning to read it. Has anyone else here read it, and if so, what do you think of it?

If you really want to know about the King James Bible you should read The Sum and Substance of the Conference at Hampton Court by William Barlow. Mr. Barlow was present at the conference that defined the rules for putting together the King James version. It is very interesting and it is an actual reporting. You even learn how the deuterocanonical books (referred to as the Apocrypha) were still considered inspired books and kept in the Bible by King James despite the objections of the Puritans. You can get a reprint from Vance Publications. What I mean by reprint is that it is an actual photocopy of the original book. Be warned, it is written in pre-modern English.
