Has Anybody Read This Book? Especially Non-Catholics and What Did You Think?

Has this book changed anyone’s lives? It is called In Biblical Defense of Catholicism by Dave Armstrong. He was an Evangelical Protestant Minister turned Catholic and he himself among countless others shows in the bible how the bible is in fact a Catholic book.
He proves by Scripture and Tradition in Defense of the Catholic church. Any comments?
 
I have read half a dozen books that defend the Catholic faith, but not that one and none of them have done anything for me, The only book that has changed my life is the written Word Of God
 
Yep read it -but it didnt click with me. I found Keatings book better. But even better than than I found the writings and essays of cardinal Ratzinger - Pope Benedict just awesome. When I read his explaination of how the Eucharist came about, both spiritually and in terms of the practical celebration it just blew my mind and it all so so very clear.

Ag not, I read your posts and I truly believe God called you through His Holy Mother. God Bless you on this wonderful journey. I can tell the holy Spirit works in you by your posts! 👍

Well sir, there is much more to Christianity than the bible. Do you agree with me on this?
 
Thank you OneTrue - I prayed for everyone here at Mass today, because the fact is, had I not found you people, this would not be happening right now for me. No doubt God would have got me somehow, but I really believe you people and this board is a wonderful instrument of God.

It’s funny, but through my awakening in my Catholic faith through Padre Pio, St. Pio first led me to the blessed Mother. Much attention was paid to her on my part, then all of a sudden, I was so into Her Son that I sometimes forget about her, but I assume this is what she wanted. To concentrate more on her Son than her. Either way, I thank God for all my Blessings he has bestowed on me.
Isn’t it a wonderful feeling to have Christ in your heart? :extrahappy: :love:
Without God, I am nothing. I would just exist. 😦 🙂
 
Armstrong is, in my opinion, a legend in his own mind. Read his blogs; he seems to me to be an apologist in need of Ritalin.

Evangelical Protestant turned Catholic he is. No Ritalin needed here, only truth. 👍

As a non-Catholic, I’d rather read Karl Keating. Armstrong won’t publicly debate anyone - he is a “hit-and-run” apologist. Dishonest and egotistical.

I agree that David Armstrong can come on a little strong. He might not be as charitable as even I might like at times, however, I have not seen anything in his writings that was not in line with the Church’s teachings. I own and have read the book.

What do you care so much about his demeanor? It is what he says that counts.

I actually correspond with Dave once in a blue-moon. He is never egotistical nor is he dishonest or arrogant.

If you want to read from an arrogant, dishonest and egotistical hit-and-run apologist, i would suggest reading James White’s tracts - who is not even a ‘doctor’ of any kind.

No argument there. James White gives apologia a bad name.

show me where I tore anything down sir, I simply stated that you should LISTEN to what they say instead of critiquing them for converting to Catholicism.

Clearly not a welcoming comment. Of course, I am sure you’ll disagree.

Where did I critique him for converting to Catholicism?!?!? I think Scott Hahn writes and speaks eloquently and with conviction. I don’t think Armstrong does - and that was my comment.
