Has Anyone Else Been Reflecting on How Wonderful a Year This WILL Be?

Brothers and Sisters,

Since joining CAF a few days ago I have been reading the subsequent postings of new members. Praise Him! Judging by so many wonderful people from all walks of life, at various stages in their spiritual growth within (or thinking about joining) Our Universal Church - this will be a glorious Year of Faith, indeed! There never seems to be a shortage of depressing and gloomy news out there - it’s easy to become somewhat pessimistic about the times ahead. I choose to feel the opposite!
I almost posted this in the “meet and greet” area (such was my enthusiasm!) but didn’t want to get off topic and distract from the blessed job that all of the CAF Greeters do on a daily basis.
I encourage all to read the postings in the Water Cooler/Back Fence Forum from time to time and see the Holy Spirit working among us! 👍
Praise to you, Blessed Mother, in whose Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart we find love and mercy, on the eve of the Octave Day - and all days!

God Bless All,

From someone who will be five years late for his own funeral, I can tell you that each and every day is a blessing.

Actually I have! 2012 was good with a lot of spiritual growth, which while difficult at times has had great benefit for me. The small church where my wife and I go is changing from the difficulty of declining numbers and the verge of extinction to stabilization and small increase.

I have a job in which I get to work with the chronically ill and have actually become rejuvenated in the past month, and much more evangelistic. Most of all I have a great community of believers and friends which God has provided.

Not to sound too pie in the sky, I am sure there will be bumps in the road, but I am more looking forward to this coming year than I have for several of the past few years.

Thanks for asking!!!

Having a lot to look forward to results in also having a lot to accomplish.

mlanning72,
A great reminder that we are all called to actively live our Faith and be lights in the darkness! Let’s each ask ourselves what more we can be doing, from the time we wake up every morning until when we go to sleep each night.

“Christ has no hands but ours to do his work today”
-Anon, 14th Century

“Most people do not suspect what God would make out of them if they would only place themselves at his disposal”
-St. Ignatius Loyola

God Bless!

I have found that one of our Lord’s most sobering quotes is:

Luke 12:48

“But he that knew not, and did things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. And unto whomsoever much is given, of him much shall be required: and to whom they have committed much, of him they will demand the more.”

I sure hope so. Each year since 2005 has progressed in misery. Maybe 13 will be my lucky number.

Kinda brings into focus in hindsight thinking about the Parable Jesus spoke of concerning those given Talents. And when we stand before our Master to give an account of them.
It is a very sobering thought.

Peace
Chris

Well said everyone. Does this community do service projects of any sort? Having the power to connect people thousands of miles apart is indeed a great one!

Each of us is called to know and use our "Talent’, or charism for the building up of the Church. The Master rightly expects an increase on His investment when He returns. Sobering, indeed.

Each year increased the Lord’s misery, as well. It is through suffering that our lives are made Christ-like. Catholics have the wonderful grace not only of sharing in Christ’s suffering, but also of being able to offer it to God for eternal good. I praise our Lord for that.

What many of us don’t recognize is the Holy Spirit continually working in peoples lives. Mary & the saints hearing the prayers of the faithful. Converts coming home(becoming Catholic). Blessings bestowed on people all the time. Unfortunately bad news is what we see most often.
