Has anyone EVER converted through logic alone?

For all the time spent comparing and debating arguments for the existence of God, to date I’ve never seen such a debate that actually accomplished anything beyond utter polarization of the two sides. It seems as though none of the reasoning for His existence is ever taken seriously unless one actually believes.

All of this of course leads to my poll…

(feel free to elaborate on your anwers:thumbsup: )
I came into the Church from atheism based purely on logic and sound reasoning. I made a logical conclusion that it is illogical not to believe in God. Once this was established it took very little time to establish that the Catholic Church was the only logical solution to the disunity that plagues Christianity.

I went through the entire RCIA process based on logical conclusions, however being raised a-religious I felt no “faith” as such, nor did I ever experience a personal relationship with Christ. The first sign I saw of any supernatural intervention was at my baptism Mass

I couldn’t find my answer on your poll, unless you mean it to be included under the last category. Whatever a person THINKS led them to convert to Catholicism, I believe it is an intervention of the Holy Spirit upon the person. It most certainly was weith me, and I never thought otherwise after I caught my breath. However, because of the strength and stubborness of human free will, I can see where someone might believe they arrived at their conversion through logic, or whatever other reason. It’ll be interesting to see your poll results.

Yours in Christ,

Steven
Well, I agree that all are saved through the gracious intervention of the Spirit. But the Spirit can use different means with different people. For some, it’s logic.

I agree. I haven’t said anything contrary to that.

Peace,

Steven
