Has Anyone Ever Encountered a Ghost?

For any that are interested I’ll relate my almost experience with a ghost.

I was in a Manila hotel room and it was the early hours of the morning. I woke up and there was this lady hovering to my left over my bed with her face looking down and obscured in shadow, She was dressed in a simple off-white, one piece fabric like from medieval European times. Her presence was unmistakeable.

In the Philippines the people here will speak of a ‘white lady’ spirit who visits people at night.

I got the feeling the ghost was malevolent but couldn’t be sure with her head bowed. In a rather weak voice I asked ‘what do you want?’ There was no answer and as I rose up in bed I repeated in a louder and stronger voice ‘what do you want?’

But then she completely disappeared, nowhere to be seen.

Wow! What the __ just happened? I sat up there for a while just trying to comprehend it. I was more blown away by the reality of what happened rather than being scared. I kept on asking myself ‘Am I asleep dreaming this?’. No, I don’t think so. I got up and put my shoes in the sink so that when I awoke later on I would know I had not been dreaming.

When I slipped back into bed I noticed a few things which led me to think I had been hallucinating.

First, to my left where the ‘ghost’ had appeared there was a large wooden set of old wardrobes. The panelling was of the kind which still had the natural swirl of the tree trunk on its surface. Further the door angled an inch towards me. As i lay in bed the strong light of a street lamp outside shone through the narrow opening in the curtains, hit exactly the angled wood panelling of the old wardrobe door causing a glare on the wood and then onto my eyes.

I figured that when I first woke up my eyes took a little time to adjust and my brain (as I am told often happens) tried to process what it saw to the closest thing it knows.

Of course as I arose in bed the angles changed and that’s why the ‘ghost’ disappeared because the reflection angle of the light on the wooden panelling had changed and my eyes reacted to the changing picture with the reduced glare. I arose and fell back in bed several times until I was satisfied that in the laying position the light caught the wood patterns so as to produce a picture which disappeared in the upright position.

I closed the wardrobe door completely, closed the curtains completely, left the shoes in the sink for the next morning and moved over to the extreme right side of the bed.

Oh yes, and I still slept with one eye open for a little while. 🙂

“ghosts” don’t exist…

the demon angels do

you tell a weird story, shipmate…

Souls exist.

Souls that are in purgatory looking for prayer.
The lives of the saints are filled with such examples; Padre Pio was asked by a soul to offer a mass for him, as he had been neglectful as a brother in his care of the altar , and had died in a fire 30 years previous. Padre Pio fainted after the ordeal, but on asking older monks discovered that a brother had indeed died of a fire at the monastry 30 years previous.

Or souls who are in hell and need exorcising to banish them from a place (which is why exorcists often need to perform exorcsim on a place).

human beings, once they have died, can never come back to this realm

the dead are gone

they cannot come back here

however; there does exist powerful demonic forces that can and will attempt to trick you into believing in ghosts; it is nonsense for satan’s evil purposes

I haven’t seen ghosts, but I saw a jinn one time. It was flying around my room in the form of a giant moth. When it flapped its wings, snow came out of it.

I met the ghost of my pet cat who died suddenly in car accident when he forgot to use his turn signal. He came back to me and we danced in the rain together and shared words that we never got to finish after we had an argument.

It is a divine vision replying my prayer’s request.

Seeing spiritual world is supernatural ability or spiritual gift of knowledge and prophecy to carry out the work of Christ through his church. It is a divine enablement to lead us not into temptation but deliver us from devils.

Spiritual gifts are spiritual gifts in that they are given by the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12). Jesus said, “apart from Me, you can do nothing” (John 15:5).

Good as well as bad spirits exist - and I’m not referring to the boozy sort. Keeping a connection with God, through prayer and good works protects you from any serious interference by the bad sort.

Certainly ghosts exist. They are, by definition, souls separated from their bodies after death. The question is, do they visit earth? Can you sense one with you sight or hearing?

I think it does happen. If it does, they have to be either souls in purgatory or heaven. They cannot be damned souls, as those are locked in hell. So they are certainly harmless. If from purgatory, most likely imo, they are likely here as part of their purification. So pray for them. If from heaven, perhaps God allows them to visit for some greater good. Either way, relatively rare.

But once, we had ghosts in our house twice in a short period of time. One should rule out any possible material explanation to any phenomena before considering an experience to be supernatural. In our case, I can come to no other conclusion.
