Has anyone had any bad experiences with Ouija boards?

On a side note, there’s supposed to be a new movie out from Universal, Hasbro and Michael Bay soon. The Hasbro tie-in seems to me there will be an effort to sell more ouija “games”.

When I was young and foolish I allowed myself to be in the same room as friends who were messing around with an Oujia board, on several occasions. Actually they even drew a big one on the floor, as they had heard that “it’s more powerful that way.” They used a peanut butter jar lid as the planchette. Long story short, I witnessed that thing moving all by itself spelling a nonsense word out, after all the kids had jerked their fingers away. One of the girls involved had some kind of entity attach itself to her via the board, and while it didn’t do anything beyond make occasional mischief in her house, it took her over a year to shake it.
I saw the board rise into the air and spin while the planchette (pointer) kept talking, as a crowd of youth scooted away across the floor screaming. That was at a party. Worse things than that happened. Lots worse.
I gotta wonder… have things of this sort ever been caught on video, and documented that way? It seems like some probably should have been… but maybe the demons tend to hold back on the “extra-creepy” things when cameras are around? :hmmm:

I remember one priest telling us (I think he was personally involved in this story) about how there was this kid who came to him, and the priest basically told him how he needed to get rid of the board immediately. And the kid tried to throw it away, but it kept coming back. Every single time, no matter how he tried to dispose of it, it kept reappearing in his closet (or something like that). The kid told the priest, who finally ended up blessing the board with Holy Water, at which point it burst into flames and burned. Absolutely creepy stuff.

Arden, how about you? any tales or just curious?

Good topic, byw
I’ve never used a Quija board, but I have an odd fascination with them. How many other Parker Bros. games have such a controversial reputation?

…I don’t it’s really a Parker Brother’s game, if you know what I mean.
Maybe I’m wrong, but I believe these things have been around much longer than the time that Parker Brothers acquired the rights to the trademarks/patents.

There are some good reasons listed above why we shouldn’t use a ouija board. If you have one, throw it in the garbage. It is NOT a harmless pastime. It opens the door for real evil to come in. I will not go into details but DO NOT USE IT. Do NOT be curious about it, for you may be tempted to try it. If you are obsessed to conjure up a spirit, make it The Holy Spirit.

Supposedly my friends once played with an Ouija board. I was supposed to be with them, but due to change of circumstances I had to stay home and watch my little sister. I consider that a grace from God.

What happened (as the story goes) is that it said someone there would die before they were 20. (My friends were all 15-16) They asked who, and it said my friend John. And also, there was supposed to be a strange light emanating from the board when the lights flickered.

Evertheless, I pray for him every night.

It has been around longer. I just find it weird that a children’s game company sells it.

I’m too much of a wimp to use it. I won’t stay alone in a house overnight.

me and two friends did the board ouija board thing out of curiosity. Over the following five year period …
  • I had a nervous breakdown and attempted suicide
  • one friend ‘E’ got cancer
  • other friend ‘A’ got cancer and died
🤷 make of that what you want but I would recommend staying away from it

How long ago was this?

Cheers!

Thirty-five years ago, I was having a slumber party with five other ten-year old girls. I remember this girl named Teresa brought out a oijii board and we began to use it. We were mesin around, nothing serious, the usual “who does Tommy love, does Susie love Tommy” nonsense that ten year old girls talk about for hours when parents aren’t around. At a certain point one girls asked if hell was real. The planchette pointed to yes by itself and the girl who asked began to have a tonic clonic seizure. Little geniuses that we were, instead of getting an adult, we figured we had to fix it before we got caught. Christine took out a sacramental, got us all to pray while we destroyed the board, then we buried the pieces and placed the crucifix necklace on top before covering it with dirt. By the time we had buried the witch board, my friends’ seizure stop and she slept peacefully through the night. We assumed our purging rite had done the trick.
20 years later when we were digging up this drad bush. I found the cross but the remnents of the oijii board was gone

Ha, that reminds me of when I was home alone for two months while my parents were on holiday!

During the night, I’d hear the roof making sounds; I’d hear plastic containers moving, or hitting the tiled floor. Since I usually sleep on my side, I’ve experience no less than two occasions where I’ve felt someone gently shaking my shoulder/arm until I would wake up. I would also feel a small burst of air against my face as if someone were deliberately blowing right into me and I’ve woken up in the middle of the night after a sensation of someone either jumping on my bed, or shaking the mattress…

Also, since it was during Christmas, we of course had the Christmas tree up and it’s really scary to witness a bit of tinsel moving by itself, in a regular, non-stop motion where there’s no wind.

Cheers!

I wondered why they don’t like the camera. They also don’t tend to do anything when complete, not-even-curious skeptics are in the room, unless there are just one or two like that or unless there is some way to recruit them into occult activity if they change their minds, such as if someone present happens to be good at getting people to want to learn witchcraft or whatever. I think the motivation behind all the creepy stuff is to recruit, and they want those who seem unrecruitable to doubt they are real because they don’t want too amy people to be able to help those who want out.

This article ran in Envoy Magazine a few years back, and is valuable information:

The Ouija Board: A Game, or a gamble?
If you think a Ouija board is a harmless game, think again. This iron is in a fire that will burn you.
By Father Robert Allgaier

I’m very concerned to hear that Hollywood is producing a movie based on the Ouija Board. This will likely start a harmful Ouija craze, especially among adolescents. Sadly many uninformed parents will buy the board for the kids.

This brings to mind the story Fr. Gabriel Amorth told about the smug, unbelieving priest who stood by at one of Fr. Amorth’s exorcisms, his arms folded and a smirk on his face. The demon spoke of the priest, “He doesn’t believe in me, but he believes in women! Oh, yes, he believes in women, and how!” The priest was overcome with embarrassment and it led him to repent.

Thank you so much, Becky. For the prayers, but especially for the reminder that I always need to pray for her. There have been so many great needs in my immediate vicninity the last six years that I have regrettably neglected my own cousin. I needed this call to action.

Praying for your cousin, and I will try to remember to put her on the intentions at the chapel next time I’m there.

Thanks 🙂 I’ll be there tomorrow, and I’ll try to remember. I need to make better use of the intentions list all around!

Getting rid of the board is just a start. Since a means of communication can be made many ways, if the user still wants to talk to whoever or whatever is “around” a way to do it is never hard to find. I used to make my own boards out of lots of things, which I won’t describe for obvious reasons. Whether I had a commercial board or not made little difference.
So if you are “talking on the Ouija Board”, do destroy the board, but then make sure you are free from temptation to continue such communications in any way. It won’t give you good advice or information. It’s not a source of company when you’re feeling alone or alienated. It’s not a pastime when you’re bored. It just harms you. Don’t use anything as a Ouija Board, ever.
BTW, the name means “yes, yes” in French and German. I think that’s already kind of unnerving. Just buying one involves implicitly agreeing to some unnamed thing. That’s why when I speak of them aloud I deliberately mispronounce the name.

I had a bad experience once when I was just a teen and boy did I got scared. I was having a graduation party which it was mine and I graduated in the year 2004, anyways I was trying to talk to my great grandfather whom past. Let me tell you it was like lkivng in hell, I smelled sulphur, and I saw the panchilette move, and it said the name seth and after that I said who is seth? My one friend said have you ever lived then it was writting never and I knew it was negtive, and evil and I said stop it put it away. Then I hearded a evil laughter and I saw a demon trying to come out of the board. I knew how to bless water, so I did and I dumped it on the board, and it went back in.

I tried to burn it but I couldnt and the flames were not able to touch the board, then I recycled it and I never saw it again. Thank God. I said in the blood of Jesus go back to where you came. And it did. My friend said that gave them the heebie jeebies. And didnt want to play with that evil dark thing again.
:highprayer: :byzsoc:

I then said the sacred heart litany, and I prayed the St. Benedict prayer and St. Michael Prayer. I even got my house blessed by a traditional Old Italian priest five times.😊
