Has anyone seen the new Alien movie yet?

I am a fan of the Alien movies. I think the fist Alien is classic sci-fi.
I don’t go to the movies a lot anymore because of finances so I am very picky about what I see. Nothing makes me angrier than paying for the ticket, drink and popcorn and the movie is terrible!!
So I like to hear what others think about a movie before I go. I don’t trust movie critics!
I like to hear from real movie goers.

I’m considering seeing it too, but with the new King Arthur movie and the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie coming out at all about the same time, I may not see the Alien movie unless people say it’s really, really good.

Hope to go this week. My understanding is that it’s better than Promethius but somewhat predictable, but then, the original “Alien” - which is awesome - pretty much set a pattern we’ve come to expect. Side note: when I was dating my wife, “Alien” was the first movie I took her to. Big mistake, but she married me anyway. I have been forbidden from naming any of our pets “Nostromo,” however.

I stopped after Aliens 2. The first was the best I saw. What number are they up to?

That depends how you want to number the films.

This is the sixth film in the series.

However there were two Aliens Vs. Predators films.

I’ve only seen the original and I didn’t think it was that good.
 
I know it did well at the box office, but I haven’t spoken yet to anyone who has seen it.

It’s been awhile since I’ve been back to the forum, but I stopped in today…

Anyway, thanks for this thread. I too am a fan of the Alien movies and I too would like to go see the latest, but I don’t want to waste time and money on something not worth it. So, I shall subscribe to this thread and see what are the reviews to help me decide to go or not.

I think the first two movies (Alien and Aliens) were the best. I enjoy Bill Paxton (RIP) :sad_bye: and Michael Biehn films and enjoyed learning a bit more about Ripley in Aliens.

Alien 3, Alien Resurrection and Prometheus were just okay to me. and I would not have been happy to spend the $ to see them in the theater. Luckily, I did not see them in the theater. 🙂 I have not seen the Alien Vs. Predator films, though I have seen a part of one while my son was watching once. Based on the little I saw then, I probably am not a big fan of those films either. I might want to watch them at home, but not want to pay the $ to see them in the theater.
 
Alien Covenant is on my list of movies to see. Stuck in the hospital for the moment right now though, and having to resist clicking on spoiler-filled videos offered in my YouTube recommendations.

👋 Nice to see you back! Don’t stay away for so long! Alien and Aliens are my
favorite too. Prometheus and Alien 3 were okay.
Hopefully, somebody will see this thread that has seen it and can give us their thoughts.

I saw the movie Arrival and it was awful! I felt so bad about the money I wasted on
that. I would hope Ridley Scott would not make a movie that bad!
 
I saw it on Saturday. I’ve always been a big fan of the original and the sequel, Aliens, but I found Covenant to be very repetitive and predictable with no twists or surprises.

If waiting for it to get to a discount theater in a couple months is an option, I’d do that. If it’s not an option, I’d say skip it and save you money for something better.

Thanks. Maybe I will pass on it then. Another poster had a link to a review and it wasn’t a raving review.
 
Is this the alien movie with Ryan Reynolds?

I saw a preview for some alien movie (that happens in space), it had Reynolds and a few other well known actors, but I dont think it was related to the Alien/Prometheus franchise…If I recall this one was more about scientists finding a new lifeform and it being more dangerous than they thought, but cannot think of the name?

You may be thinking of Life, which starred Reynolds and came out earlier this year.

Thank you! I will try to do a better job of popping in more regularly.🙂

It sounds like the new Alien Covenant movie might be one to wait to see until later and not go to the theater. Maybe different reviews and more positive opinions will be posted. So far, though, I think it will not be a theater movie for me.

I haven’t seen Arrival, but I’m sure I will watch it sometime when it comes on television. Hubby likes a lot of sci fi and would stop on it and then watch until the end even if it is bad just to see how it ends and I will watch with him. 🙂
