I have read where people have smelled roses after a loved one has passed but didn’t see much about perfume. My mom left 10 months ago. One day, shortly after, I was making a dish that she used to make all the time when I was a kid, and out of nowhere, i smelled really strong perfume. My mom loved perfume and I would “yell” at her that she always put too much on. I told my brother and he too had a similar experience with smelling really strong perfume.
I was hoping this meant she was okay (of course I will never really know) but was wondering if anyone else experienced this?

The day my grandfather died I had left work early and walked home from the bus stop.

About halfway home, I smelled the classic smell of his cigarette smoke. It was very intense, even though no one was around smoking a cigarette.
I don’t know what it means, or if it was a coincidence.

My mother in law would smell flowers when someone she knew died. She said she didn’t know who died, but she knew someone died. When we told her my mom had died, she said she had smelled flowers.

Loved ones have all sorts of ways of letting us know they’re okay, if God wills. Such smells and sights and sounds are little consolations from God. Your best bet is to appreciate them when you get them, not over analyze them, and most importantly, if you get a little consolation, give thanks to God and then try to move on and don’t be expecting to get a new reminder every week.

My family has had a lot of that stuff happen, some of it quite dramatic, and some of it very personal to the people involved. It’s not unusual but like I said don’t go looking for it every week or in every cloud in the sky.

I don’t have time right now to listen @TheLittleLady, can you summarize for us?

My mother used to smell a floral smell close to people passing away. I never got anything with either of my folks but I have told anyone close to me ‘don’t give me any signs ‘ because I’m too scared of all that. So I don’t think God would let that happen to me

A day after the funeral of my mother-in-law, my husband, his siblings and I were sitting in the living room/dining room together. Suddenly, he asked, “What’s that smell?” At first, no one else smelled it. Then it moved from one end of the room to the other, until everyone smelled it, and we were all asking each other what it was. It smelled very sweet, and it grew very strong for just a few moments, before fading away. All the windows and doors were closed. Everyone present in the house was in the same room, and no one had done anything that could have caused the smell. Also, the way it was suddenly there and then gone was strange. I think all of us believed it was something supernatural.

Gardenias: members of my family have often smelled gardenias since my grandmother’s passing. They were her wedding flowers. I myself have experienced a very strong floral scent a few times, since she died, and usually at times in my life when I was dealing with something very difficult. I remember one time when the scent became so overpowering that I left the room and it gradually ‘followed’ me into the next room.

Yes. My father-in-law and I experienced this the day after my mother-in-law died. We both smelled the most beautiful scent of roses.

Mr Akin changed my mind, he lays out a situation where it is not contrary to reason or Faith to believe there are times when God allows those who have died to interact with us.

I’m glad he changed your mind on that. If the saints in heaven can interact with us, assuming God wills it and allows it, then our loved ones in heaven or even on the way there are no different.
