Hello,
I am new here but deeply troubled. My mother has always had good health. She just found out that she is diabetic and has an infected foot. I always have this calming feeling come over me when I things go well and I got that feeling. But it turned out to be diabetes anyway. Has God decided to forsaken her? What if the infection spreads and she ends up as an amputee? Is God punishing me through her, would he do that? I am so scared. Please, please, if you can please answer, please. I am really scared. Please help.

Sincerely,

Hi,

God never abandons us. Just look at a crucifix to see how much He values us. But He does gives us crosses in our lives. These are opportunities for us to love Him back. If He had forsaken her, she would cease to exist. He keeps us in existence all the time. Each heart beat is an assurance of His concern for us. When He finally calls us home, that is an expression of He desire that we see Him.

His love is more powerful than diabetes and even death. Easter Sunday shows us that! God doesn’t punish us with the crosses He gives us. He simply offers us the opportunity to become more loving people. Do you think He punished the Apostles by allowing them to be martyred? Not at all! By being willing to shed their blood for Him, they became more holy than they had been. And all the Christians around them became stronger in their faith as the result.

Be of faith; your mother is in the hands of a very loving God. Whatever happens will be for her good.
